In linguistics, 
voicelessness
 is the property of sounds being pronounced without the larynx vibrating. Phonologically, it is a type of phonation, which contrasts with other states of the larynx, but some object that the word phonation implies voicing and that voicelessness is the lack of phonation.


Sonorants are sounds such as vowels and nasals that are voiced in most of the world's languages. However, in some languages sonorants may be voiceless, usually allophonically. For example, the Japanese word

Sonorants may also be contrastively, not just environmentally, voiceless. Standard Tibetan, for example, has a voiceless /l̥/ in

, which sounds similar to but is less noisy than the voiceless lateral fricative /ɬ/ in Welsh; it contrasts with a modally voiced /l/. Welsh contrasts several voiceless sonorants: /m, m̥/, /n, n̥/, /ŋ, ŋ̊/, and /r, r̥/, the last represented by "rh".


Many languages lack a distinction between voiced and voiceless obstruents (stops, affricates, and fricatives). This is the case in nearly all Australian languages, and is widespread elsewhere, for example in Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Danish, Estonian and the Polynesian languages.


In many such languages, obstruents are realized as voiced in voiced environments, such as between vowels or between a vowel and a nasal, and voiceless elsewhere, such as at the beginning or end of the word or next to another obstruent. That is the case in Dravidian and Australian languages and in Korean but not in Mandarin or Polynesian. Usually, the variable sounds are transcribed with the voiceless IPA letters, but for Australian languages, the letters for voiced consonants are often used.


It appears that voicelessness is not a single phenomenon in such languages. In some, such as the Polynesian languages, the vocal folds are required to actively open to allow an unimpeded (silent) airstream, which is sometimes called a 
breathed
 phonation (not to be confused with breathy voice). In others, such as many Australian languages, voicing ceases during the hold of a stop (few Australian languages have any other kind of obstruent) because airflow is insufficient to sustain it, and if the vocal folds open, that is only from passive relaxation.





Thus, Polynesian stops are reported to be held for longer than Australian stops and are seldom voiced, but Australian stops are prone to having voiced variants (L&M 1996:53), and the languages are often represented as having no phonemically voiceless consonants at all.


In Southeast Asia, when stops occur at the end of a word, they are voiceless because the glottis is closed, not open, so they are said to be unphonated (have no phonation) by some phoneticians, who considered "breathed" voicelessness to be a phonation.[2]

Are you using shuffle=True? If so, disable it and check if the index error is raised with the same value. Alternatively, iterate the Dataset instead of the DataLoader to narrow down which sample fails to load.

The BH2000.exe will call two target: 
+ the Bh.exe is the main menu
+ the beachhead15.exe (256 colors) and beachhead16.exe (16bit colors) is the campaign mode. If click on those file and run directly, it start in windowed mode already (!!!) but stuck in top left of screen. 
Regardless, I can see why Dxwnd had a trouble to hook a game that calling multiple target.


Yes, I noticed that. I believe that beachhead15/16.exe don't start in windowed mode, but simply it expects that the screen mode was already set by its father BH2000.exe or brother Bh.exe.
By the way, Avast found beachhead15.exe (and not beachhead16.exe) infected by malware gen on Win7 and not on Win10. Likely it is a false positive, but I'm just telling you.


The problem with this game is its splitted logic: if you check the running processes or simply look at the calls within each module, Iyou can see the folllowing:
- bh2000.exe is an invisible and mute frontend. Its purpose is to run, in turn either BH.exe or one of the twin programs beachhead\beachhead15.exe or beachhead\beachhead16.exe
- bh.exe is the program that show the game main menu and some intro stuff, options and everything is NOT 3D. It also checks the video modes and sets a 640x480 resolution with either 15 or 16 BPP color depth. When it terminates, it tells its father bh2000.exe the chosen action through the exit code
- beachhead15.exe and beachhead16.exe are the actual 3D gun engines for 15BPP and 16BPP video modes respectively.


So, the current situation is that I got a valid DxWnd configuration for bh2000.exe and beachhead\beachhead16.exe, so that I can separately run a useless menu and a new game. All these configurations, though, require DLL injection.
To make the whole stuff working there is the need to hook the invisible bh2000.exe and make it propagate the DLL injection to its son, a thing that in theory should work, but so far the hooked bh2000.exe refuses to work.





BH2002 run even more comfortably. The BH2 window is centered on the screen, definitely a step up from beachhead16 window. But HELL, that super "annoying" BH2002.exe and bh2.ews is very CPU-hungry that getting usage 100% all the time!!! I feel sad for my PC, it is so slow like a turtle.

Sniffing Decrypted TLS Traffic With Security Onion

I have Security Onion installed and doing full packet capture on my home network. I also have a firewall (pfSense) which does my routing. I have Security Onion sitting just behind my firewall and mirrored from a switch. It works great except I want to decrypt my SSL traffic. I would very much prefer to have the decryption take place on the fly instead of manually decrypting with wireshark that way Snort sees everything as well. I installed squid on the firewall to try to proxy my traffic but it is not working right. It forwards everything on but I can't get it to decrypt (run live capture on the firewall and it is still encrypted). If I can get this working, will that be enough (using the firewall's private key to decrypt)? If so, how would I go about setting this up in Security Onion? Thank you for your help.


The SslBump feature in Squid allows the proxy to inspect the decrypted web traffic, but the tools on the Security Onion node (Snort, Zeek etc.) will still only see the encrypted traffic because they don't support passive TLS decryption.


Wouldn't it be awesome to have a NIDS like Snort, Suricata or Zeek inspect HTTP requests leaving your network inside TLS encrypted HTTPS traffic? Yeah, we think so too! We have therefore created this guide on how to configure Security Onion to sniff decrypted TLS traffic with help of PolarProxy.


PolarProxy is a forward TLS proxy that decrypts incoming TLS traffic from clients, re-encrypts it and forwards it to the server. One of the key features in PolarProxy is the ability to export the proxied traffic in decrypted form using the PCAP format (a.k.a. libpcap/tcpdump format). This makes it possible to read the decrypted traffic with external tools, without having to perform the decryption again. It also enables packet analysis using tools that don't have built-in TLS decryption support.


Run the Security Onion setup utility by double-clicking the "Setup" desktop shortcut or executing "sudo sosetup" from a terminal. Follow the setup steps in the Production Deployment documentation and select "decrypted" as your sniffing interface.


Wait for the Elastic stack to initialize, so that the intercepted network traffic becomes available through the Kibana GUI. You can check the status of the elastic initialization with "sudo so-elastic-status".


As I said the IPS modes mentioned are able to receive traffic and return them aftewards, either from interface to interface directly with AF_PACKET or within netfilter via NFQUEUE where you can use routing etc.


Many commercial firewalls can be deployed out of band (as a sniffer) for IDS/IPS. They would need a decrypted feed to be really useful. SSL/TLS decryption needs to be done by an in-band device, because you literally man-in-the-middle the traffic.





With how much traffic is encrypted now, and the generally very high false positive rate, a part of me thinks it might not be worth the effort of tuning anymore. While I do love to play around with it, as it's intriguing from a netsec standpoint, I really just am not sure even in an enterprise environment, if it's worth the time. To me, things like PFBlocker with a very strict setup might be a better option overall for security.


Fortigates, as of FortiOS ~6.0 offer you the ability to export a packet flow that has been SSL inspected by a firewall, which is what I am going to do in this post. Unfortunately I dont have hardware to plug into a SPAN port, and I want to inspect my traffic in a virtual machine so im going to use GRE enapsulation to send a decrypt SPAN to aSecurity Onion installation. If you arent aware of security onion, you should get familiar with it, it has a lot of REALLY cool features that are super useful for analyzing traffic flows.

My computer won't turn on anymore, no led when I plug the charger, it stopped suddenly while I was working on it.

Hi, I get 3v on the first pin of the bios chip, and 0v on the pin 8 is that normal?
According to the schematics diagram in the manual and datasheets, I should have 1.8v there, right?
How to check the processor? Is my acer EG31M V.1.1 completely dead?
My 3v 5v regulator seems fine though since I tested the voltages and ground.





Don't jump into the repair book and chip level right away. Depending on the problem it won't be the same approach. Does your laptop have any issue with the disply, or the power? Start with the basics by measuring the voltage at all the measuring points showed in the repair guide, and come back with all the measures so we can help you fix your acer EG31M V.1.1.


Then you will go on and check the circuitry : coils, mosfets, capacitors, inductors, etc.

If you are a total beginner in electronics better take your computer to a repair shop to avoid causing more damage to it, even if it costs you a little bit. They can solder and desolder parts very quickly without taking any risk for the rest of the components.
They can also just check your acer EG31M V.1.1 and tell you what part is causing the problem, then it will be up to you to replace it if you prefer doing it yourself (a piece of advice when soldering, always use flux or rosin).

I made the decision to implement it because fairy tales are a teaching unit that I process with the first grades of high school. These are 15- to 16-year-old students. They worked on their own and in groups. I liked the method of activity that the author applied in her scenario, and this is one of the most interesting topics for the students. We met fairy tales at our earliest age; they are texts that people love and remember all their lives. Fairy tales and imaginations are inseparable. We all fantasized that one day we would become princes and princesses. We always remember them as well as the people who read them to us.


The first class was held in the school library. I gave the students a few fairy tales with different headlines. After a short tour, I asked them if they liked fairy tales and knew any of them. Then I read them the fairy tale of Ivana Brlić-Mažuriranić, How Potjeh sought the truth.


The next activity took place in the IT classroom. The students were divided into four groups and searched the resources of Europeana for images of the authors of fairy tales, one by one. The authors were Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm, C. Perrault, H. C. Andersen and Ivana Brlić-Mažuriranić. After this activity, they read a fairy tale of their choice, and found its basic characteristics, exchanged experiences, and came to the conclusion that there are distinctions between folk and artistic fairy tales. They singled out what new features were introduced into the artistic fairy tale. The activity lasted 45 minutes.


At the end of the activity, students were able to define the concept of fairy tales, interpret the stylistic features of fairy tales, explain the idea, recognize that fairy tales are one of the simple epic forms, and distinguish folk fairy tales from artistic fairy tales. I would recommend this scenario to language teachers because there are a number of activities in which students are not passive and their creativity is expressed.


After the activities were carried out, the students expanded their knowledge of fairy tales. They linked their theoretical knowledge to selected literature. By working in groups, they interpreted and exhibited selected texts. They conducted a study of fairy tale writers using the resources of Europeana. They discovered the importance of Ivana Brlić- Mažuranić in the development of Croatian literature and expressed their creativity, potential, and qualities by writing fairy tales and making them out of paper.


Born in 1937 in Ljubljana, Polonca Kovač earned a degree in comparative literature and Italian from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. She then taught Italian and German at the Cene Štupar Workers University in Ljubljana. She later worked at the Counseling Centre for Children and Adolescents in Ljubljana, and then taught German in the Centre for Foreign Languages.
