We are proud to present he latest from Turbo Recordings Executive Honcho Tiga, a massive ode to passive-aggressive income remixed by Héctor Oaks, Der Zyklus, and Decius. 

“No one wants to work their body anymore,” says the Montreal merrymaker from atop a throne in the exact shape of a digital wallet. “I get it. Who wants their surplus sweat equity vacuumed up off the dance floor by corporate parasites when the real future’s in decentralized skanking? But that’s why people in my position - the top one-percent in terms of nightlife and hospitality take-home pay - have to offer real benefits to risking it all in the clubs. I’m talking dance-move insurance, competitive drink ticket packages, and - most of all - the kind of brick-and-mortar bangers Rhythm Nation was founded upon back in 1814.”

While gratingly content with the original version, Tiga has nonetheless chosen to flood the Marketplace of Ideas with a plurality (3) of voices he feels will optimally position this release in today’s unforgiving Neo-Centrist landscape. This stunning grass-fed vinyl 12” opens with a remix by Berlin-based vinyl-only DJ Héctor Oaks, who has been described as “operating at the absolute vanguard of rave.” Please remember that describing people this way is basically injecting them with Imposter Syndrome. The release also features a remix by Der Zyklus, an alias of Gerald Donald, the epochal genius from Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, Japanese Telecom, Abstract Thought, Zerkalo, Zwischenwelt, and many other fantastic projects. Finally, Decius closes out the EP with all the British Mischief you might expect from UK luminaries from Trashmouth Records, Fat White Family, and Paranoid London.

"I’ve designed my entire life around the concept of ease,” adds Tiga. "I never wanted to work for a law firm. I wanted to make beats for a law firm. I’ve always been self-employed, and that why my street cred’s off the street charts. And I’ve let as much of that freedom trickle down to the audience as I can. Because when it comes to music, there’s no such thing as an acceptable minimum wage. You gotta know that you gotta give it all you got or you’re gonna get got.”

The magic of no/genre sax-drenched friend-core shines through with “In Order 2,” the new single from @Tiga & Hudson Mohawke’s LMZ project. 

"Some songs you make, you love more than others. The other songs might sense this and start making out with neighbourhood bad boys to get my attention, but it’s just not going to work,” says Tiga, the Tiga-half of Tiga & Hudson Mohawke. Written on a rainswept Los Angeles evening, the closing track from their upcoming debut album, L’Ecstacy, is a moving paean to love lost and regained. “This song captures the whole reason we started making music together — Ross’ perfect melancholic chords allowed me to express a genuine longing that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise” adds Tiga. “And we did it all with some lost neo-warehouse sunrise vibes.” 

Both the single and album artwork were created by famed photographer Wolfgang Tillmans, who graciously reached out after hearing the track during the LMZ Sonar performance in Barcelona. Tillmans said the track struck “a Herznote, or chord close to the heart.” This evocative description was exactly the kind of reaction the duo had hoped to inspire: “Normally you’ll just accept ‘genre-defying’ or ’nuts-to-the-wall’ as a compliment and move on,” says Tiga. “But we saw our intention reflected in his words. Getting to collaborate with a world-class artist like Wolfgang validates the very idea of having emotions at all."

"In my lifetime, It’s never been easier to not love — there are a million reasons to close yourself off every day,” says Tiga. "But sometimes allowing yourself to love means letting everything in, including all the pain and saxophone solos in the world. Ultimately, though, we wanted to make a song that makes you feel something just by reading about it, and I think we’ve done that. One Love — for real this time, not like all the other times I said it.”

but this hasn’t, not really. this is what i do, and have been doing every night since i was 17.

i find records i love, i fly to a city. i take a nap. i play the records for people. they dance. i get paid i go home.

sometimes i actually think there might be something wrong with me to STILL be doing this. am i stupid?

HOW…. how could you STILL be playing records for people at 5am. shouldn’t you have developed an APP? A line of Wellness Products? surely you should have “sold your company” by now? WRITE A DECK? raise capital!!!! Get bored.
but then i play a set like this (link above) and remember that this is, in fact, as good as it gets, that the core idea i had as a 16year old was actually the BEST idea: to live a life surrounded and protected by MUSIC. armed with your favourite songs, the ones that keep you young and confidant, the ones you want to share with friends.

so that is DJing for me. simple. not particularly revolutionary… except for the fact that to be excited and happy seems revolutionary these days.

also: i’ve played about 4500 parties. and most are like 6 or 7 on tens….. sometimes an 8.

THIS WAS A 10. And the 10s never get recorded. there are lots of exclusives and THREE of my new tracks. and its been recorded WITH all the crowd noise…. trust me its a good one.
