My Sonar set from 2006. 🌌🌌🌌🌌 I miss Spain and I miss Sonar. Of all the places and parties over the last 20 years, few felt as important and exciting as all those moments in Barcelona. My first big set I think was in 2004 (my actual first ever non-German European show was Moog club in 2001) and it felt like I had arrived. Sonar by night. Massive open sky. Making friends, sharing music, travelling.... all the best aspects were at the centre. I have wanted to avoid nostalgia and too much “archival” action, but I recently found a recording of my set from 2006.... and I was struck by how much excitement and energy was in the music- it sounds to me very free, like I was just having fun, relaxed in front of my 8000 closest friends. It’s strange to think it’s 16years ago. It was mostly vinyl, I can hear how sped up some records are, I can hear how PROUD I was of some of my own records, and how chill I was to break it down in the middle to some pretty dope minimal funk. All in all the feeling is a feeling I really do miss- and makes me think how wildly fortunate I was in the first place. I hope you enjoy this 2hr set.... I think it’s aged quite well, huge songs, big energy, joy, and an optimism and swagger that I think is on the cusp of being reborn (if it ever left)

Solid Steel (27th January) In Hour 1 it's the return of Martyn to Solid Steel (his last appearance was in October 2012 which you can also hear at SolidSteel.net) It's a sublime mix from the Dutch producer with an almost beatless first half and we are treated to a number of exclusive edits of his own tracks that were done for his New Years Eve gig in the legendary Berghain’s Halle room. In between we get tracks from Future Sound of London, Neotropic, Ravi Shankar Brian Eno & David Byrne, Scientist and David Sylvian which leads nicely into the next hour.
