Tech House 2 - part 2

Paul Ritch is no stranger to Drumcode and has returned with an outstanding single featuring three tracks that will dominate DJ sets. The first track ‘Run Baby Run’ entertains us with an arpeggiated chord sequence that is accompanied by percussion-like synth sounds before bursting into a thick-layered sequence of sound. The dark and dubby side of the single see’s Paul’s ‘Astral’ bring a funky sleazed out groovy track that also uses a discerning melody. ‘Mind Insistence’ is a dark 5am groove that will keep the dance floor swaying in the early hours with it’s tripped out feel and syncopated percussion.

Opening track “Deepa” sees Ramon plant his feet firmly on the techno floors with an incandescent relentless assault on the senses , pounding kicks and staggered rises pull you in as the industrial rhythms take the track to beyond madness with its filtered vocal drops. 

“Club Pirate” takes things into more tech house territory but still retains the heavy hitting club feel Ramon is renowned for. Again we are treated to a chopped vocal that meanders around a dark and hypnotic heavy kick workout. 

Closing the EP we enlist Vinicius Honorio to remix “Club Pirate” and he delivers a super charged electronic masterpiece akin to the sounds of Maceo Plex and the likes, a fine remix on a mighty fine debut from Ramon Tapia

Stephan Duy adds another feather to his cap as he releases his first-ever three-track EP via Code Black.

This release comes on the heels of two successful releases in the Code Red World of labels. The Swedish-Vietnamese producer debuted with "Jaipur" in March 2018. That led him to return to the label in June to release a free remix to Marcus Schossow and Corey James' previous single "Time Goes By". He shows off his edgier side with the release July 27 of the Insanity EP.

The EP begins with "Hands Together," an energetic take that brings an exciting bassline and memorable vocal hook. "Chasin'" is the second track, bringing a smooth and melodic vibe that serves as a strong contrast from the first tune. Rounding out the EP is the title track – "Insanity". With a pumping bassline and merciless vigor, this tune definitely shows the best has been saved for last.

The hard-hitting techno opener ‘Talking 2 B Mad’ is built on rock solid drums that never let up. “When I started to work on this track, I could not envision how it would turn out, I was just making it, bit by bit. After doing the first beats, I made the bassline using Reaktor. The sound and the sequence reminded me a bit of the old school stuff from The Hacker and David Carreta and the idea of inviting Kittin to do the vocals came to mind. She said she loved the track and she was gonna do the vocals and the result could not be better. I am a huuuge fan of hers going back many years and I have a lot of her records from when I started playing, right through to her recent productions. I remember when she went to Brazil about 15 years ago to play at one of the most loved clubs there at the time called Lov.e. I could not be there but I saw her on TV when she gave an interview on one of the country’s biggest channels. I vividly remember calling all my family to see it – I felt a huge admiration for her, her music, her style and everything about her. And I still do! I was a 17-year-old living in the Brazilian countryside at the time watching one of my idols on TV and could never have imagined that one day we would be doing a track together. Life is so unpredictable and this is a beautiful gift that music gave me.” - ANNA
