Hot Since 82 - Evolve Or Die (Matthias Tanzmann Remix) (MHR104)

Dortmund label Kittball enlist German based artists Chris Di Perri & Domenic D’Agnelli who deliver their ‘Bulldozer’ EP featuring a remix from ViVA MUSiC duo Anek.

Hailing from Cologne, Chris Di Perri made his debut appearance as a DJ at Berlin’s Solar nightclub at just seventeen, the venue he would later hold a residency in. He now shares the stage with artists like Sven Väth, Format:B and Kittball bosses Tube & Berger and Juliet Sikora across various German venues. Di Perri’s productions have been released on Deer Deer, Upon You, not to mention CusCus Music where he and Italian artist Domenic D’Agnelli first collaborated. D’Agnelli is hailed as one of the key cogs in the early 90s Munich and Frankfurt club scene, organising parties, and performing at the likes of Pulverturm, Ultraschall, The Box, in addition to his residency at Flokati.

‘Bulldozer’ offers up distant vocals on a rolling sub that build up into a dark damaging bass and steady beat, before ‘Bullis Little Bro’ delivers staccato bass stabs amidst a catchy synth riff and clinical percussion. Then Danish female duo Anek, who’ve appeared on Moon Harbour, Gruuv and Oblack, remix ‘Bulldozer’, offering an infectious hi-hat and snare, enveloping bass and flanging atmospherics.

Chris Di Perri - Bullis Little Bro (Short Edit)

After making their debut on Saved as part of our latest ‘Collection’ album series last month, we’re pleased to welcome back Domy Berardino and Mirco Sonatore aka The Deepshakerz for their debut single release on the label; ‘My Way’. The Italian DJ and producer duo are well-established in the scene with releases on heavyweight labels; Toolroom, Cajual, Lapsus and Nervous, as well as their own label; Safe Music, and their tracks have garnered support from Groove Armada, David Morales, Loco Dice, Dubfire and Riva Starr. ‘My Way’ showcases the duo’s signature sound with tribal drums, a prominent bassline and playful hats. Completing the EP, Themba steps up on the remix, offering a deeper take on the original and incorporating his African roots with shuffling drum and energetic percussion over the captivating vocals.

For the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Stereo Productions, we have an extraordinary project in which Chus himself has chosen his favorite producers to remix three of his most iconic studio productions: ‘El Amor,’ ‘World Routes,’ and ‘Black Rain.’

But the relationship didn’t start there. Read our full story:
Emiliano (AKA Uru) Haberli and Bryan Coletta are the names behind the infamous duo Sparrow & Barbossa. Uru (Barbossa) was the original percussionist in DJ Chus & Joeski’s ‘El Amor’ back in 2003. The stars aligned when Chus got in touch with the duo after they reached #1 with their Yeke mix, one of Chus’s favorites. Now, 20 years later, Uru has crafted the drums sequence again. Bryan (Sparrow) is a pianist and comes from a musical family. His father is the legendary guitarist Francis Coletta, who worked with artists like Whitney Houston, Quincy Jones, and Frank Sinatra. 

‘El Amor (Sparrow & Barbossa Remix)’ 
The Pirates duo has kept the original essence of Caterina’s sensual and enraptured Brazilian voice blending in perfect harmony with the timeless bossa nova bassline. Uru rebuilt the percussion section, giving it an extra samba-esque breeze; meanwhile, Bryan plays the afro synths with new sounds that rouse emotive reactions.

‘World Routes (Sparrow & Barbossa Remix)’ 
The original track was one of the most significant pillars of Iberican Sound, colored with plenty of organic elements. This gem takes on new skin with Sparrow & Barbosa bringing in afro rhythms, dense basslines, and a tribal house atmosphere while keeping the sensuality of the ethnic vocals, imprinting a confident message of joy and celebration.

‘Black Rain (Sparrow & Barbossa Remix)’ 
Black Rain is one of the most mature and profound of Chus’s works, based on the planet’s origins and the ancestral influences of his music. This Eden of organic elements builds a cinematographic soundscape in which the duo preserves the roots and emphasizes the bassline, capturing the original’s natural strength in an eyes-closed epic.
