The quintessential Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch track - soothing vocals paired with hard hitting techy beats, the clash of heaven and hell. 

I don't know a lot about this tune, other than the fact that there is a John B remix of the original mix (never heard the original mix), which was slated to be released on the Lost All Faith album back in 2004 (it took another 3 years for it to be released in 2007 with many changes to the tracklisting, which included omitting any version of this track). 

Fascinating bit of trivia regarding the album; back in 2004, Si (Kryptic Minds) also mentioned that the title track of the album, Lost All Faith, was an 11 minute orchestral piece - the track got cut down to 9 minutes and 41 seconds.
Additionally, he mentioned two tracks titled 'Opus 1' and 'Opus 2'. There was 1 track which made it to the album called Opus Dei, which makes me wonder if there was another, similar orchestral piece made by them but didn't make the cut.

This version of the track was made around 2003/2004.

With 16 years of experience producing and playing music, Leon Switch has been a more than active proponent operating across multiple scenes. As one half of the production duo, Kryptic Minds, Switch and Si Shreeve made deep, dark drum & bass for labels like Penetration, Defcom and Metalheadz which culminated in their 2009 album, Lost All Faith. Gradually making slower, more dubstep influence music the duo, now united in their change of tack, released One Of Us on Loefah’s then freshly minted SWAMP81 label, affording themselves a well received, deeply dark and cinematic full length mission statement which led to further releases on Tectonic, Black Box and Skream’s now defunct Disfigured Dubz over the years that followed as well as the founding of their own label Osiris Music UK. This purposeful switch up (pun v. much intended) served to open their collaborative music up to a whole other audience with altogether with their music appearing in Hollywood blockbusters like Elysium and taking them all over the world. 

Last year saw Leon Switch stride out on his own with a reinvigorated purpose and when he did, his music instantly found a kindred spirit in Distance and his Chestplate label who released his 12”, ‘Deadlock’ b/w ‘Persepolisia.’ A long time staunch supporter of that original, basement dwelling, spacious dubstep sound, Chestplate feels like the perfect house for Switch’s cloying production style. Further cementing that relationship Switch will be appearing at the upcoming Chesplate Room Three takeover on 30th January where he’ll be appearing alongside Distance, Proxima and Cyrus. Ahead of the event he’s kindly outlined the type of thing you can expect from him this year with this 30 minute mixtape.

The great Canadian Bass talents L Nix and Outsider put together an outstanding, deep, dark and  heavy E.P titled The Land Of Ruin, which Iron Shirt Recordings will immortalize on there first 12“ cut to Vinyl, because this one should stay forever, everlasting!

Starting with the title track, The Land Of Ruin sets the standard and momentum of what will follow, a high quality atmospheric, dungeon esc presence with gritty mid tones and unforgiving reece melodies.
The remix by veteran Leon Switch (formerly of Kryptic Minds) delivers his signature sounds while progressing through sub pumping, mid range frequencies that delve into another dimension of darkness. 

Destroying Acheron (LV-426) lets a story unfold through sound. The opening sequence begins, atmospheres, melodies and bass start to progress through time, these events start to unfold with the introduction of a fearful reece that drives the song into the main chapters.

12  Hours To Darkness introduces a hypnotic melody alongside chords and weighty subs. As the title implies, the song begins on a lighter note that gets overtaken, the creatures come out to play, the sirens of the night are out, the intensity grows, the Darkness has taken over.

Finishing of the E.P is City Of Sins. Fueled by the introduction horns, that lead the song and continue to add to the distance that separates good from evil, its the perfect way to end this story, the story of the "Land Of  Ruin", a world with no answers... Bring up them this day of evil, destroy them; destroy them...

BIOGRAPHY:
With a career spanning 20 years and a backlog of releases, Leon has been busy to say the least. Stemming from a musical background, Leon specialised in lead guitar as his first instrument and spent most of his teenage years in various bands performing anything from Heavy metal to 60's-70's Rock'n'Roll.
He first started programming music in 1992 and then bought his first studio setup in 1998, soon to follow was his debut release in 2001 on Unkut Recordings. 2002 saw the birth of Defcom Records along with the partnership of Kryptic Minds, and a massive passion for deep dark Drum and Bass.
With releases on imprints such as MetalHeadz, Frequency, Freak, Monitor and Penetration to name just a few, he had recorded and remixed for some of the scenes true pioneers and then 2007 was to see his debut Album 'Lost all Faith'. 2008/9 and a change of tempo and name, pushed him into the limelight.
Now writing under the Kryptic Minds moniker, the 'One of us' album was released on Swamp81 and the international touring started. Reaching places as far as New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong and then out to places such as Moscow, Siberia, Ukraine, but not forgetting nearly all of Europe in his home times...
The releases continued on imprints such as Tectonic and Osiris Music.
