Chris Hyson is proud to present “Chaps”, the first single from his forthcoming EP ‘Cuddle Kitchen Vol.1’ due to be released on 6th of Dec 2019 on Pixel Music. 

New addition to Chris' growing collection of self-produced solo instrumental music, “Cuddle Kitchen Vol.1” is settled into the world of groovy instinctive rhythms, an evolution from his emotional and reflective landscapes trademark. The EP takes a trip to an imaginary land full of colours and shapes. Unpredictable and full of surprises, the music keeps the listener fully present and engaged. 

This is Chris’ half conscious decision to show a different side to his musical personality, after successfully establishing himself as a musician, writer and producer with a superb melancholic and emotive palette, be it 
with his band Snowpoet, his own solo productions, the work he’s recently been doing in the world of film composition or his involvement in writing, playing and producing the next Jordan Rakei (Ninja Tune) album. 

First single “Chaps” elevates Chris’ work far beyond mere aesthetic exercise, cementing jazz, ambient sound design, and groove into an absorbing listening experience.

Chaps

Eighteen months on from his last solo release, Vancouver-based singer/composer Ian William Craig returns with a brilliant and powerfully emotive new album. His first for a long while to be centred around the piano - and also one of his most pared back - the record was made through an intense period of personal loss and environmental catastrophe. 
Recorded over two cataclysmic weeks in August 2018 in Kelowna, British Columbia, whilst the city was encircled by forest fires, it was captured from start to finish in the living room of a small house owned by his grandfather who was residing in a care facility across the street, having been afflicted with dementia for the past decade. Midway through Ian’s recording, his Grampa passed away, his lungs filled with fluid as a result of the smoke.

Performed using his voice, his grandfather's piano and shortwave radio set, several modified tape decks and a bunch of tape loops, Ian notes how events helped force the shape of the record and a tendency toward a less layered, more spartan expression. “Everything felt raw, I didn’t want there to be anywhere to hide in this record. My parents and I were cramped together in a small house while my grandfather slowly died across the street in a world filled with smoke, after all. So, in this record, more than most, there exist a great many things straight to tape without any effects because there really was no space.”

"Mine is Yours" is a MiniDisc compilation of remixes that Mr Koch has done of other artists both in and out of the experimental electronic genre. A quick scan of the tracklisting reveals remixes of lackluster, marumari, proem, hrvatski, and even Tim himself, among others. Tim Koch has spent the last few years releasing a plethora of material on Defocus, Surgery, Aurual industries as well as compilation apperances on M3rck Records, Negativland's label Seeland, Systorm Technologies, Component Records,Intr_Version, Global Recordings , Lucky Kitchen, and U-cover , as well as an apperance on our MD2 Minidisc compilation. "Mine is Yours" is a wonderfly infectious mix of shuffling beats and soaring melodies that Tim Koch is now almost infamous for.

Australian producer Tim Koch started early, experimenting with a Tascam reel-to-reel four track, an endless supply of his siblings’ guitars, and a few 8-bit computer systems. An early fascination with 1978-1981-era Public Image Ltd. – especially Metal Box’s stark production and behemoth basslines – led Koch to play bass guitar and drums in a number of shoegaze-influenced rock bands. He soon developed a taste for more instrumental, sequencer-based music, drawn to its potential for experimentation and unorthodox sound sources. While studying at Adelaide University, Koch took advantage of the University’s EMU music-technology unit, surrounding himself with archaic analogue synthesizers and listening deeply to innovative composers like Varese, Stockhausen, and Ligeti.

Over five full-length albums, Tim Koch has explored countless moods and textures but never tied himself to one style. He initially found the attention of the electronic-music world

under the moniker Thug, layering Detroit-style pawn-shop beatboxes with rich synth pads; on subsequent releases, he reverted to his given name and toyed with more playful sounds. Koch’s recent full-length Faena refines all the elements of his career thus far while integrating acoustic guitars, female vocals, and raw found sounds. Over the years, the Adelaide-based Koch has released his music on labels including deFocus, Merck, U-Cover, Seeland, n5MD, and Intr_version and has composed for film, television, and video games.

Regarding 10:32, his newest project on Ghostly International, Koch’s remarks are as cryptic as his choice of moniker:

10:32 is the length of an albatross.
10:32 is a month and an age.
10:32 is soft skin on hollow hearts.
10:32 is quick feet on cool floors.
10:32 is seeing through your eyes.
10:32 is mornings into evenings.
10:32 is finishing before the end.
10:32 is ten thirty-two.
