Sainte Marina is a Paris-based Lebanese transdisciplinary artist whose work encompasses visual arts, writing, research and music. Sainte Marina is a producer and a DJ who creates ghostly melodies that float across the spectrums of experimental, ambient and noise. Her sets are built as deconstructed narratives haunted by voices sampled from archives from the fields of politics, social sciences and contemporary culture. Sainte Marina is a resident at Tikka Radio (Marseille, France).
 Sainte Marina is also the author of this artwork. The visual is from Sainte Marina / Marina Mardas Beirut-based project called Of What Remains (2016).

Saria Nabulsi is a Palestinian-Jordanian DJ, whose mixes are dynamic and unorthodox. Having spent years collecting music and studying sound, she began mixing for friends at intimate events. Her mixes and sets show a deep appreciation for a variety of unique styles and genres, including left field, ambient, house, and dub techno.

First as a tragedy, then as a farce #5 is dedicated to recent political events, as this residency focuses on the use of samples to narrate our contemporary world. 
May 2022 was marked down by the killing of the outstanding Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqle. It was also the 74th commemaration of Nakba (=catastrophe in arabic) for Palestinians. One year had passed since the May 2021 social media movement as well as protests worldwide to support Palestinians yet, and unsurprisingly, it wasn’t enough to put pressure on settlers who striked again. 
Parallely, as the war broke out in Ukraine, we have been witnessing many white journalists expressing shamelessly their despise and racism towards the Middle-East. Their classification of human pain depending of social background, religion, skin tone and, most of all, geographical location. 

Gathering over 15 samples around the death of Shireen, the Palestinian annexation as well as Western reporters cynically stating their opinion of « uncivilized » people, this episode is dedicated to the ultimate Farce and hypocrisy we are currently witnessing. 
No one is free until Palestine is free.
