To celebrate, we are bringing the classics back, remastered and with new remixes from an amazing group of heavy hitters from all corners of the dance world. Given that Yoshitoshi's roots are ingrained in house music, it's only fitting to start the #YoshiClassics campaign with Eddie Amador's "House Music". A true Yoshitoshi classic released in 1998 that went on to become a global phenomena. The hypnotic rhythm and infectious "Not Everyone Understands House Music" has become the preach anthem for generations of dance music lovers. Uto Karem, Robosonic & Anthony Attalla on Remix duties! The 27th of March will see one of this year’s most sought-after releases, as Paradise founder and Hot Creations head Jamie Jones teams up with long-term friend and Paradise resident Alan Fitzpatrick on Fairytale Frequency. The stunning two-tracker is the debut collaboration from two of electronic music’s most in-demand talents and, as expected, the end result is an outstanding offering that showcases both artists at their best.

The lead track Fairytale Frequency instantly showcases the bespoke sounds of both artists. From the get-go we witness the tell-tale signature of Jamie in the tribal drum patterns and whispering female vocal hooks, whilst Alan’s trademark club sound comes through in the pulsing, acid-twinged lead synth. Sundancing rounds things off. Soulful and soothing, the track is reminiscent of Hot Creation’s early days with it’s warming bassline and deep, emotive vocals, as gentle hats converge on light kicks to form a Baleric-inspired closing cut that tugs deeply on the heartstrings.

As a world-renowned DJ and producer, head of Hot Creations and founder of the global Paradise event series, Jamie Jones has etched out a legacy on electronic music that few can attest to. His personally curated Paradise series offers an international showcase of house and techno’s most recognisable artists. A long term Paradise resident, Alan Fitzpatrick has risen to the upper echelons of electronic music with a constant stream of outstanding releases on the likes of Drumcode and his very own We Are The Brave label.

Sometimes you need to look back to look forward; marking the start of a new decade, Silicone Soul celebrate 20 years since their game-changing breakthrough hit with a brand new remastered version and two new remixes. 

‘Right On, Right On’ and on and on and on… The duo’s iconic Cutis Mayfield sampling single came in many shapes and sizes around the turn of the century. Beginning as ‘Right On 4 Tha Darkness’ in 1999, it then became ‘Right On, Right On’ in 2000 with that legendary hypnotic bongo loop that brought the soaring strings and warm jacking groove together so exceptionally well that another version popped up a year later; with added vocals from Louise Clare Marshall, ‘Right On!’ smashed the UK mainstream, hitting number 15 in the official charts… And led to the Glasgow duo famously declining an offer to go on Top Of The Pops. Two decades later and they still don’t regret that decision.

“We’ve had a lot of remix and licensing requests recently for 'Right On, Right On’ with even a dodgy progressive house cover version appearing back in January. Soma’s release schedule was sadly full, so we thought, f**k it, let’s do a re-release on our own Darkroom Dubs label, and as it’s been 20 years since the first release, we thought it would be perfect timing for an anniversary edition too. Conor Dalton, from Glowcast Mastering in Berlin, was kind enough to remaster the original direct from DAT and to complete the package, we’ve also included a new dynamite remix from Fango, with Matthias Tanzmann revisiting his much-loved remix for a 2020 version.”

Warmer than it’s ever sounded before, the new Glowcast remaster comes complete with remixes from Matthias Tanzmann and Fango. Originally released in 2012 as part of Soma’s own 20 year anniversary, Tanzmann squeezes every ounce of soul possible from the percussion elements while Italian Fango gives ‘Right On Right On’ a right old shoeing with a massive lolloping disco bassline, marching pianos and an injection of funk positivity 2020 has sorely missed so far.

20 years deep, still taking us through the darkness, still focused on a bright future. We need music like this now more than ever. Stay tuned for more Darkroom Dubs dispatches very soon.
