Positioned in the gravity well between the main planetary body and one of its outlying moons, the long-range research vessel unfurled its kinetic battery and prepared for the moment for which they had waited for years, the alignment was close. As the heavenly bodies reached the critical moment, the gravity harness kicked into life, the power of a planet’s motion captured and funneled into the portal. Reality yawed away into void as they looked on with the fearful curiosity known only to the truest of explorers. She approached the lens with trepidation... the other unimaginable reality awaited –an unknown destiny.

Its hulking form loomed impressively over the landscape with silent menace, intricately laced with the forbidden technology of its inherent design - discrete but powerful audio weaponry blisters in low profile across its chassis. Its journey from the depths of the continent to the crucible of Europe had been arduous, following the densely interwoven fiber stands laid down by the Controller itself, webbed across the hemisphere to gather sonic intel from the core label habitats and to signal the gathering once per cycle at the apogee of solar proximity. With the arrival of that signal, the EATBRAIN cluster had erupted in a frenzy of activity, initiating the activation sequences planned by their greatest minds. An upload of the entire population into the vast mechanism of their creation, a design with the pure objective of sonic decimation at the LIR battle royale. It stood there against the skyline looking down at that sector, the Controller’s ship setting down in the dust of the ancient, abandoned military base, the arriving vessel unfurling resonators and speaker stacks primed with off-world mechanisms. Without hesitation the vast Eatbrain mecha issued its sequence of final checks, loading the audio assimilation interface destined to annihilate all below and took a stride towards the awaiting masses. 

EATBRAIN deliver their second tight package of pure neurofunk energy for the LIR EP, signalling their unwavering intent to deliver an ultimate selection of high-end drum & bass at Europe’s largest drum & bass festival. Featuring blinding audio weaponry from neurofunk pioneer CHRIS.SU, the colourful but mighty arena energy of MOB TACTICS and Eatbrain veterans ZOMBIE CATS, alongside fresh but highly significant creators in the form of MALUX and SYNERGY – this is an EP carved out by a label at the top of its game in preparation to deliver an intense night of sonic mayhem of the kind that the label is known and loved for.

The forthcoming LP from The Clamps and Kosen Productions isn’t just a collection of records which the French artist has spent months perfecting. It’s also a colossal look into the soundscape which such a high-calibre artist has at their disposal. Stretching across fifteen tracks, between drum & bass and garage, The Clamps focuses around the insanity that is stretching itself across the contemporary world and how he’s helped to define this sonically through each one of his records. There’s also a host of sci-fi inspired cuts which add to the LP’s explosive themes. From the already revealed record ‘LHS 1140b’, with a name that’ll resonate for any space fans, right through to the hard-hitting throws of ‘End of an Era’, there’s a taste to suit every palette throughout every expertly composed record. 

After already setting an enviable standard with the undeniably heavyweight standards on tracks like ‘Looking for Trouble’ alongside the notorious Nuklear MC, standalone offerings such as ‘Mankind’ and ‘30a #3a-23 Happiness’ peddle an unforgettable level of engineering whilst also pushing through a cinematic backdrop. Then a range of collaborations follow in their wake, including ‘Astronauts’ alongside Impak, as well as Snotrocket for ‘Friends in the Hood’. Merikan also joins the fray with ‘Fast Way’. 

The pace is continued to be set with ‘Cattle Mutilation’, whilst Mizo and The Clamps join forces for the meticulously sequenced drums of ‘Time Pressure’. ‘Medina’ pulls you through its half-time madness whilst adding to the LP’s strident versatility, which is followed in quick succession by ‘Soul of the Abyss’ with its throbbing LFOs. The Clamps and NickBee then merge their collective talents for ‘Addicted’, with its more old-school underpinnings. ‘The First and the Last’ platforms the creeping atmospherics which characterises many pieces of The Clamps’ sonic artillery, whilst ‘End of an Era’ draws the album to a close on a cataclysmic breakdown which takes you deep into the belly of the beast. ‘End of an Era’ alludes to The Clamps’ hardcore roots, whilst paying homage to the new foundations he’s laid down through his new music and Kosen Productions.

CURRENT VALUE returns to OTHERCIDE RECORDS for the release of his FAR LAYER EP, which displays the furthest expanses of his sonic realm in true devotion to its title. With his past on OTHERCIDE RECORDS marked by 2016’s Rethink EP, CURRENT VALUE’s recent efforts have seen releases on labels such as Blackout, Invisible, & Methlab Recordings. Now returning to OTHERCIDE RECORDS, CURRENT VALUE debuts a four track EP that carries his aberrantly innovative sound further onwards to new boundaries.  DISPELLING FEAR opens the EP with reverent string swells that soar alongside a ethereal vocal before diving at full force into the track’s torrential drumbeat. Within, they are twisted and warped by the volatile harmonic environment within into surging basslines and oscillating highs in equal measure. The titular FAR LAYER immediately discards with any semblance of convention, opting instead to create a an idyllic sonic landscape that hangs effortlessly in the air. Driven by a delicate piano arpeggio, the track swells calmly to a lush crescendo before fading into nothingness with similar grace. Following such a melodic interlude, FERROMAGNETIC provides harsh metallic textures which create an exercise in contrast, wrapped tightly around the track’s pulverizing drums for a devastating mechanical fusion. The EP then closes with PHOTOELECTRIC, which doubles down on the distortion of its predecessor with its dissonant bell tones and shredded bassline ending the look into CURRENT VALUE’s FAR LAYER with a decisive tone.  FAR LAYER thus explores a diverse range of sonic environments, from its most beautiful melodics to its most visceral basslines all of which are unified by the technical precision and otherworldly tones of CURRENT VALUE as they transmit via OTHERCIDE RECORDS.
