Following hard on the heels of Tim Healey’s widely supported and radio-aired debut on DB Stereo, release 2 sees label owner Tomcraft take the stage with his latest opus. 

No stranger to global number 1’s, the Munich-based ‘Loneliness’ producer serves up a slice of ultra groovy tech-funk. A DJ-friendly intro and vocoded vocal carves up the sonics with its cut-up groove before the juggernaut kick and bass slam in. 

Road-tested across the globe by Tomcraft this spring and summer, the tune has been an anchor in his sets teleporting the dancefloor to euphoric beat-laden boogie heaven, whenever and wherever it’s unleashed.

On remix duty and ahead of their debut single on the label next month is, Bennun & Healey - Tim Healey’s new project with Bristolian sound-smith Colin Bennun. They mine a throbbing techno groove, where rolling sub bass collides with a de-tuned Arp to deliver party pandaemonium. Like the sonic lovechild of Skream and Solomun - this is peak-time perfection.

The Mucho Stylez rework digs a deep clubby-tech vibe and tribal groove, paying homage to the vocoded vocal from the original but peppering the arrangement with a progressive groove and racing high hats.

Penned after a lost weekend at Noisily Festival 2017, Lucy is a slab of future/retro acid tech funk, where a hypnotic groove delivers a de-tuned and lazy techno arpeggio to hook in the dance floor. When the time-stretched “Give me acid” vocal is unleashed, the tune slams back into acid mayhem, with a double-time arp resolving into a jaw-droppingly funky psychedelic motif. Unmissable. Unforgettable.

Irie Bliss switches up the styles with journey to bassline house central. A jacking garage groove erupts into chopped up vocal harmonies before the killer bass demolishes the party. Urban warriors beware, this genre-busting bad boy has whipped every event up into a frenzy when Tim drops it in his sets.

On remix duties is techno/tech house maestro Jhothi. His tasty beats and bass have been turning heads this year, working with Tod Terry among others from his studio in Ibiza. We were delighted that he joined the DB Stereo family and turned in this astonishing remix. The chugging deep-tech re-work would sit comfortably in any 4/4 set. The lushest bass, tightest percussion and moody melancholic atmospheres make a strong case for filing this as his best remix to date.

Continuing his run of releases and a serious return to form, DB Stereo co-owner, Tomcraft serves up a double A side for his latest project: Nordheim & Tomcraft, with Munich-based producer and modular synth wizard Dominic von Nordheim.

‘Heat’ is a pressure-cooker of a club cut. Brooding bass and atmospheric hints of harmonies swirl around the pumping beats until the irresistible force of the full groove and melancholic melodic refrain kicks in.

Paradise Lost dips into a more self-reflective palate of sounds: the driving kick and bass remain but a Zero-7 style electric piano provides the melodic build, before the phenomenal drop, where gnarly distorted bass and huge held chords show this late-night groover is absolutely massive in all the right places. 

DB Stereo serves up another belter of a release.
