This week the guitar scratches along. The effect bank stretches out the the harmonic components in the guitar sounds and filters them into more or less harmonic streams.

Saturday Session 10

The eleventh in a set of improvisational works using hyper effected guitar with recorded/processed/effected sounds. Each session is recorded in one take with no post editing. The aim is to produce each work on a Saturday afternoon and the preparations are to be contained to the week preceding. 

This week the recording was made on a Sunday as time got away from me on Saturday.  Just a straightforward improvisation using minimal effects and exploring various methods for initiating the sound. 



Sunday Session 11

The twelth in a set of improvisational works using hyper effected guitar with recorded/processed/effected sounds. Each session is recorded in one take with no post editing. The aim is to produce each work on a Saturday afternoon and the preparations are to be contained to the week preceding.

After a four or so week hiatus here is a new session. The crackle is generated using a Supercollider crackle patch which is feed through a space design effect in Logic. The guitar plays light harmonics clicks. Fire, rainy day, glowing night.


Saturday Session 12

The thirteenth in a set of improvisational works using hyper effected guitar with recorded/processed/effected sounds. Each session is recorded in one take with no post editing. The aim is to produce each work on a Saturday afternoon and the preparations are to be contained to the week preceding.

This week features a new guitar. There are no extreme effects and the focus on the new instruments tonal range and feel. 

Saturday Session 13

The fourteenth in a set of improvisational works using hyper effected guitar with recorded/processed/effected sounds. Each session is recorded in one take with no post editing. The aim is to produce each work on a Saturday afternoon and the preparations are to be contained to the week preceding.

This week consists of a two pass improvisation. The piano part was played first and the guitar provides an improvised accompaniment consisting solely of played chords. Minimal effects or extended technique. Like the previous session this is coming to terms with the new instrument and all it offers.

This a recording of a walk around The Queen Victoria market in Melbourne. There is a gap in the middle of the recording where I stopped recording while having lunch. The recording was made with a zoom h6 handy recorder.

Firehose

This is a rehearsal tape for a performance I did at the Network Music Festival in Birmingham. The piece is a live piece which uses the twitter live feed to to generate the electronic part. The guitar part is an improvisation in response to the twitter sonification. Various text filters are used on the twitter stream in order to reduce the event density and provide a meaningful context. The audience can also see the text of the sonified tweets as they occur.
