When I wrote this song, I was thinking about how hard it is to meet the right person who has the same idea about where the relationship is headed as you do. I think this is especially difficult for younger people who  mostly have distant social connections. In this song the girl was hoping for a special, long lasting relationship but the guy was obviously only in it for the short term. All too common, I'm afraid.
