Have you ever gotten lost in thoughts and dreams while gazing at the night sky? Those celestial bodies sparkling in the deep dark blue have caught our attention and driven intrepid explorations since the dawn of time. The mysterious immensity surrounding our beautiful little planet has always stimulated our fantasies: scientists and philosophers have found challenges in it, while artists have found nourishment for their creativity. Our talented friend mUnO seems to fall in the latter category, since he told us that astronomy, the night sky and the concept of infinity itself, serves as the inspiration to create ‘cosmic soup’, which is the way he describes his own sound. mUnO is the borderless project in constant evolution, launched in 2015 by Gonzalo Urtizberea, also known as Gurtz and 1/2 of Kermesse. Gurtz formed mUnO as a way to express himself without stylistic constraints and to experiment with new instruments and samples. His latest EP, Mareas, meaning ‘tides’ in Spanish, includes two enchantingly melodic original tracks and four lively vibrant remixes by none other than Lagartijeando, Vruno, Betelgeize, and Señora. The beautifully diverse styles brought by these incredible artists blend perfectly with the motifs of the originals, adding some spicy beats to the cosmic soup. Hailing from the largest country in the world by area — Russian Federation, Zoe Reijue is a young artist, a graduated musician acoustic piano who has been practicing since childhood. Later, walking around the globe, she found herself immerse in an enthralling passion, the crush's name: Downtempo electronic music. At that point, Zoe just wanted to make music, overwhelmed by intense feelings of joy, love, and peace. Then, having no directives from her social inner circle, she bought Ableton live with a discount for students. Currently, the Moscow-based producer makes unfailingly cheerful music with subtle percussion and high-flying landscapes.

Since the appearance of her first tracks, released in the 'Level::xx' Compilation on the Russian label Leveldva seven months ago, she's been playing at chillrave areas in Moscow, also delivering a side b, working as a set decorator, sharing happiness through making cozy atmosphere for people. Surrounded by a certain hyperactivity that satisfies her animate inner-self, Zoe has been working at full blast in her artistic projects. Last week, paired with the German producer Iorie, she had 'Tales Between Worlds' EP released by the German label Serafin Audio Imprint. And, we proudly release her three-track 'Arria del Animo' EP, a piece of work that walks into unspoken nuances and meaningful edges.

Getting through life can be a struggling task. Nevertheless, when embracing our personal strenghtness we can not only get through life, but soar through life. Thus, it is in this context of overcoming and resilience that Zoe bases the creative process for the EP. Recognizing it — in particular now in this overwhelming and exhausting pandemic scenario, sets our minds to be more acceptable to the fact that we’ve overcome challenges before and there are several approaches we can do to soften the blow. In this sense, 'Arria del Animo' is the fruit of that message and it pushes her craft along the way in order to delve into new territories.

For convenience in writing, since genres are just editorial labels, this EP gives the impression of being channeled into a 'The X-Files' Downtempo chillout. Indeed, it revolves around mysterious and intriguing suggestions; a distinct reverb trail on the mid range punctuation elements. However, Zoe demonstrates more hidden layers by creating tracks filled with tales of mysterious people that inspire her on a daily basis. Then it is up to the listener to give the most appropriate subjective interpretation, tackling these real-life mysteries and filling in the blanks with storytelling. In that spirit, the first track 'Mekola' embodies a man who feels the whole black interstellar backdrop - wearing the inside out; the level of noise and hustle is diminished so the hermetic grooves take over. The second track 'Unna' is the storyline of a wandering man heads toward years-long mission to his intimate selfhood, it echoes reflective melodies and a penetrating yet charming baseline. Finally, we have 'Spynessa' as a selfless woman whose mission is to preserve the world's well-being using her traits of heroism, musically, the third track carries cadenced elements and secret service synthesizers.

So, 'Arria del Animo' stages black holes, event horizons and a warm atmosphere that is still introspective. Overall, a soothing passageway session in troubled times. As Zoe Reijue accepts the fact that there will always be something untried in her music, from minimalism to wide and dynamic sounds, she isn't interpreting genre as a set of rules, but mainly shaping the recording techniques and energies she's been working towards. Hence, the EP is as cinematically ethereal as it is intimate, the real world doesn’t freeze while this 14-min adventure unfolds tough.
