The voyage “Towards the Sun” is one of our favorite journeys, and we are happy to go there
any chance we get. Well, we’re in for a treat. All eyes on the horizon as we welcome two
remixes of Francesco Chiocchi and Black Soda’s ode to the earth’s brightest star, delivered by
some of our favorite producers. Italy’s Pastaboys are first up with their seductive remix of the
original, paving the way Towards the Sun through the night. We often forget it’s pitch dark
before the sun rises, but with racy bass and body-binding rhythm, this remix leaves us aroused,
electrified by the retro sultriness of the afterhours. The trio behind the iconic ‘Deep Musique’
with Osunlade, knows the essence of soul and the depth of the future all too well, and we feel
that here, with subtle Italo nuances.
Up next, Multinotes co-label heads, Musumeci and Lehar prove their sublime studio chemistry
yet again, illuminating a trajectory Towards the Sun beyond the earth’s atmosphere. Emitting
Black Soda’s commanding vocals in celestial plagency, the Italian duo traverse the chasms of
the galaxy in a passage to cosmic euphoria. Driving moist orbicular riffs and poignant chords on
a propulsive locomotive groove, this reinterpretation is a nyctophile’s anthem. The perfect
post-peak time joyride to nocturnal bliss.

Continuing a strong beginning for the new imprint, Movement Ltd revitalizes two progressive music classics from Michael Burns. Recording under the alias’ of Blue Haze and Panoptic, UK artist Michael Burns earned recognition shortly after his initial productions were released in 2002. As a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sander Kleinenberg, Michael landed standout releases on Deep Records, Little Mountain and Saw Recordings through the mid-2000s. With that several of the genre’s timeless classics were born, none more memorable than perhaps ‘Surface’ and ‘Into Nothing’. Now breathing new life into these seminal creations, Movement Ltd presents new revisions from Paul Anthonee and Tash for the Spring of 2021.

Movement Recordings mainstay and Astral Records A&R Paul Anthonee is up first with a powerful rendition of ‘Surface’. Originally released in 2003 on Minimal Records and played by Sasha & Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Jody Wisternoff, the track's place in progressive music history is firmly etched. Well known for his astral techno sounds, Paul Anthonee now presents those memorable melodies in an entirely different context. Dark, compelling and geared for peak time play, the Cypriote’s punchy beats, electric rhythms and crunchy design lays the foundation for Michael’s reflective melody to delight across an eight-minute cosmic journey.

Completing the release Movement Recordings label boss Tash reimagines the Bill Hamel ‘Last In 9 Vocal’ version of Blue Haze ‘Into Nothing’. Originally released in 2004 on Satoshi Tomie’s SAW Recordings, the project signified a shift in sound from the label’s darker, tribal roots. Storied US artist and Sunkissed Records founder Bill Hamel had a hand in a multitude of memorable releases throughout progressive music’s first movement. In addition to being a favourite of Sasha & Digweed, Bill was a highly regarded mix engineer, working with Seal, U2, Nelly Furtatdo, Marilyn Manson, Gwen Stefani & Pharrel, Rihanna, Madonna, Britney Spears, Depeche Mode, New Order, Prince and Justin Timberlake. Earning two Grammy nominations in the process, Bill always remained tied to the electronic underground in some regard as well, most recently releasing as Fantum on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint, before tragically passing away in 2018. Looking to honour Bill’s memory, Movement Recording label boss Tash provides a fresh take of Bill’s highly regarded take on ‘Into Nothing’. With the remix being regarded by some as one of progressive music’s greatest tracks, Tash stays true to its musical spirit and overall groove, resulting in a version that sits comfortably in both current and nostalgic spaces. Highly emotional, it rounds out an excellent second release for Movement Ltd, a label who has laid the ground work for an incredible year to come.

Organic Tunes returns with label boss The Organism for a brilliant pair of new tunes, while Whitesquare is enlisted to remix.

Ukrainian artist The Organism is a multi-genre talent and always unpredictable producer with a signature style that embraces the best of house, techno and plenty in between, as he does here once more.

Radha is a rugged and elastic tune with trippy vocals layered over rolling beats. It's freaky and fun and sure to make a real impact. Isa is then darker and heavier, with more weird wordless vocal sounds over a tight synth riff, cosmic keys and a driving drum line.

Whitesquare hails from Italy and since 2012 has been blending tracks from all across the electronic spectrum. He remixes it into a more playful tune with a hooky melodic riff that bounces away like a woodpecker.

These are three left of centre and brilliantly original house tunes.

Fresh from major missives on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Circus, Saved and Relief and heavyweight collaborations with the likes of Pete Tong, Alex Kennon makes his debut on Joris Voorn's Spectrum with this rolling juggernaut anthem that joins the dots between the 2000s and 2020s, house and techno, clubs and festivals and all shades of lockdown jadedness in between. It's his most personal release to date, and one that has already found favour with Kolsch, who made an early version a regular set favourite.

''Blinding Lights' is for me not just a record, it's a melting pot of emotions through music, a kind of time machine taking me from the early 2000's to today. I was overjoyed when Joris said he wanted the track for his own label Spectrum. His remix and take on the track will make this project very special, an intimate perspective from a great artist and musician like himself combined with a track I am very proud of.'

An inspired slab of emotional electronic music that nods in all directions and comes with that great sense of momentum and surprise, both Alex's original and Joris's remix hit spots we forgot existed. Lighter times are coming and music like this will be our soundtrack.

Having regularly played and partied together over the years, the 2020 lockdown enabled Dennis Cruz and Josh Butler to finally have the time to collaborate. Resulting in Ahora Todo Va, the first single from Dennis Cruz’s debut album, set for release on Crosstown Rebels this coming summer. UK favourites and label affiliates Gorgon City provide the remix.

If music can be used as medicine, then Ahora Todo Va will heal the darkest of days. Opening the track and setting the scene for what is to come, an excitable crowd can be heard lapping up the voice of an energetic performer. The duo make full use of a range of instruments, from the sophisticated piano keys, rhythm infused drums and increase of excitement throughout resulting in a triumphant crescendo. This is music to make you dance. Dennis explains that “it was so nice to collaborate with Josh on this one, we have shared many moments together. He sent me a tribal Latin idea that he was working on and I loved it, he then sent me the project and we started to work on it together. I’m so happy to release this on Crosstown Rebels”. Dripping in atmosphere, industry heavyweights Gorgon City are on remix duty and create a track reminiscent of the euphoric big stage shows.

At the forefront of the global house scene is Spanish DJ and producer Dennis Cruz, with a number of accolades under his belt. Gaining support across the board, Cruz has released on Solid Grooves, Moon Harbour and Hot Creations among others, and an ever-increasing list of Beatport #1’s resulting in him being one of the highest selling tech house artists. Since bursting onto the scene in 2013 with the acclaimed Got A Feeling, Josh Butler has been a prominent figure in the dance scene. Remixing the likes of Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Joris Voorn whilst also warming up for the multi-grammy award winning Nile Rodgers and Chic. Josh has released EPs on Rejected, Defected, Poker Flat, Kaoz Theory and more.

Five years after hailing all eyes on the horizon with an exquisite Black Sunrise,
Francesco Chiocci and Black Soda reconvene, innervated by the earth’s brightest star,
to cast another invigorating summertime bacchanal. Paying homage to the vast source
of life, the Italian producer and South African vocalist grace MoBlack Records with a
6:23 minute voyage, “Towards the Sun.” Robust bass and striking percussion scorch
and rouse A-side, emitting solar radiance from its densely textured build up, disrupted
by synth and brass breaking circuits to illuminate a perfect rhythmic dance scenario.

beat pattern at start, Francesco Chiocci’s instrumental rendition grips right from the
onset, leaning on sublime electronic sound modulations with a distinct organic feel. Rife
with fleshy riddim-ridden patterns and ingenious tempering of echo and reverb,
MBR397th’s finale is profuse with lush soundscapes sculpted by the depth and space of
sound, showcasing the body-bounding power of Dub.
