Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four: Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. Having recently retired from DJing, Buttrich has devoted himself entirely to his own productions over the last few years.  “I discovered how much better I am as a producer. I'm so happy in the studio, and so productive. It feels good after 15 years on the road as a house and techno DJ to take a little breather and gain perspective,” says Buttrich. Relieved from heavy touring schedules and the pressure to make dance music, the veteran producer took a trip down memory lane for his latest album project, Light Vessel Automatic, which he releases under the new alias Stoned Autopilot.

Attention to detail is a trademark of the producer, but so is his ability to never sound fastidious – above all, there’s an overarching playful and nonchalant attitude to Light Vessel Automatic. It’s an album for slow appreciation and careful consideration, much like pictures in a photo-album, every track on Light Vessel Automatic captures a memory of a moment in time of Buttrich’s rich musical life. In all its layers it expresses just how far Buttrich has come as one of Germany’s foremost producers.

Been planning this oldschool deep house  for sometime. I've been wanting to go back to find the deep house sounds that got me into DJing few years back. I was surprised to find that Beatport has a lot of gems from the late 90's and the early 00's which helped immensely for making this happen. Few  of the tracks though were vinyl only so I had to contact few people who sent me rips. I just really liked them and had to get them on the mix. Though I do want to get back and get some records. I stopped for more than a year as I was transitioning to a new place that doens't really have a big space for records. Though now i think i can make it work. Anyway, I really hope you enjoy these old school deep house sounds. I tried to focus mainly on what I like and what felt like it blended together well, to my ears at least. There are three tracks that I meant to play but as I was recording the mix i realized they were in WAV and my players don't support that. I converted them so they will probably be in the next mix. Also, i said Beatport helped but there don't sleep on Bandcamp. I have a list of stuff from a bandcamp as well, i just felt the tracks i got from Beatport were enough for the mix I wanted.
