Based on the traditional Shona mbira song "Shanje," this arrangement features lyrics based on a poem by Bob Holman, vocal arranging by Nora Balaban and musical arranging by Timbila.

My Heart is a Real Thing

The music is essentially the traditional Shona mbira song "Taireva." The musical arrangement owes much to Thomas Mapfumo and the Blacks Unlimited. There are guitar lines in the styles of two Blacks Unlimited guitarists, Ephraim Karimaura and Joshua Dube. The song is transformed by the addition of poetry by Bob Holman, who performs the lead vocal here, with the singers of Timbila backing him up in an arrangement by Nora Balaban.
