"One of the first things you need to know about Doel is that it’s not a ghost town and never was. It is still inhabited, albeit by only 18 people (counted in 2020), when just 20 years earlier that number was over 800. So what happened?
‍
It all started in the sixties, when plans for industrial expansion were on the horizon. The harbour of Antwerp would extend its grounds and Doel was supposed to have disappeared for it, as villagers were ordered a building ban before constructions had even started. This would mark the beginning of the small town’s tumultuous history."

I had the honour of playing after @veldvolpostelein and before the wonderful live of @hame-compathy and dj sets by @seduction-dream-dust, @technosbnc, @gieglingdustin and @lola-haro at the first Doel Festival ever this year. A new festival created by the dream team of @klubdramatik and @paradise-city-festival. They did an amazing job putting this endeavour together and getting things moving. 

It was an otherworldly and much anticipated experience. Picture a sci-fi environment on a showery day. Cold, dark and wet. Beautiful scenery and details all around. The people there were driven, full of love and ready to dance. A real dedicated crowd. Respect!!! <3

An emission nebula is a nebula formed of ionized gases that emit light of various wavelengths. The most common source of ionization is high-energy ultraviolet photons emitted from a nearby hot star. Among the several different types of emission nebulae are H II regions, in which star formation is taking place and young, massive stars are the source of the ionizing photons; and planetary nebulae, in which a dying star has thrown off its outer layers, with the exposed hot core then ionizing them.

Descripción: El neón es un elemento químico de número atómico 10 y símbolo Ne. Es un gas noble, incoloro, prácticamente inerte, presente en trazas en el aire, pero muy abundante en el universo, se encuentra sobre todo en las novas y supernovas. Este elemento proporciona un tono rojizo característico a la luz de las lámparas fluorescentes en las que se emplea. Si bien generalmente es inerte y no tóxico, el neón también se conoce como un asfixiante simple. Cuando se inhala, puede causar mareos, náuseas, vómitos y pérdida del conocimiento. 

Funyita es una dj radicada en Pucón (CHL) poseedora de una ecléctica y numerosa colección de long plays. En sus mezclas tiende a cohesionar múltiples estilos en aras de ofrendar(te) una experiencia sonora que resulta iluminadora respecto de las agoreras tendencias del establishment musical actual.

Argentina-born but Barcelona-based, Tunik's real home is at the forefront of the underground. As a DJ, he has a knack for unearthing overlooked records and turning them into hot ID requests. His fledgling production career has already yielded high-class results since 2020, with EPs on My Own Jupiter alongside its founder Nicolas Lutz, and more on Furthur Electronix. Each one is a blend of industrial cosmic sounds, with paranoid atmospheres and low-slung yet mechanical grooves that are both spooky yet seductive and next up is his A New Dawn EP on our own label. It further deepens Tunik's journey into dark wave synths and machine-made rhythms packed with emotion. 

He goes long on this week's podcast with a two-hour deep dive into his signature blend of house, techno and electro. There is plenty of room for everything from spaced-out rhythms to more corrugated machine funk. It's a forward-thinking selection that always feels like it comes back from the future whether deep and pensive or more jacked up and physical. A superb, floor-facing selection for non-stop dancing.
