Ace Tone presents the label's second release: “Arkology - Fire / Education”.
Previously only released on CD, the two versions encompass the spirit of the UK sound system cultures.

Arkology - standing for the science of the ark, was formed by Skorpi Gad I and Zanga – two like minded dance hall regulars. Right at the start of UK hip-hop - an emerging wave and sound of the youth, Arkology were pushed by young rappers from the area to produce them. This resulted in the launch of Positive Beats records in 1987. In contrast to hip-hop from the US which started to become more commercialised at that time, in the UK it took a different stance of awareness and consciousness, forming under direct influences of calypso and reggae music. It was rooted in sound system culture and Arkology was there at the beginning of this emergence. By experimenting with hip-hop and reggae, and through diverse collaborations with artists from the neighbourhood, their style was found within a strong community. Having met at Jah Shaka’s dance halls, they worked with the mastermind dub engineer Aba Shanti I, who was very supportive of young ‘street level’ passionates and played a big role in their development. Arkology started working closely with Aba Shanti, who mastered many of their early productions, and mixed their debut album The Blueprint in 1994.

On ACTR002, two tracks resurface into a new context, sounding as relevant as they did during the time they were produced. Fire Dub is what a perfect union of hip-hop and reggae sounds like, accompanied by a shattering bassline. The B side Education Dub, carries the timeless message onto the streets of today, in a more percussive and digital style. 

ACE TONE will compile another 7“ by Arkology later this year — stay tuned!

said i buy a electric generator why on earth go buy a solar panel, a convertor, some storage batteries, and hooking up a simple propeller like a windmill to dat and sun not shine breeze blow and you generating power. don't take much. for $5000 you can put in a solar unit in your house which supply you with all the power you need. i have a little cabin up in the hills in jamaica, a little hut. and we have solar energy, one panel, two storage batteries, a convertor. and i have all the power i need for anything, you know. see what i mean. it not hard, it just that certain guys want manipulate you and get your money from ya so you can work for dem. see what i mean. but that's what people up in that area have to start doing and that's what everybody have to start doin. so so so delroy say "you spit in the sky it must fall in your eye and that's no lie". and that's what they going to try to do. mankind technology. why dem a take a computer and da people.. if computer so big and bad why can't computer turn on the light, eh ? got to go back to.. chop up some tree and build some wood fire cook some food get the riverside catch water same river where dem same on pollute up. and get you the same snow and melt them and make water like dem ancients used to do and stop rely on water company and light company and telephone company to supply you need because dem goin to let you down, ya undastan ? dem same thing start... the cities, the cleansing is coming, the great equalizer which goin to equalize mankind. all the money dem have, all the millions, can't get them some water or some power. with all the money dem have. nothing. everybody equal. that's how god going to equalize everything on the earth . supermarkets not going to have enough food. trust me. supermarkets not going to have enough food. when it happen. when it come. cause the most eye not joking. same thing did happen when rome did fall. it was all party time and getting down. same thing did happen. don't get caught that way again. mankind have to think about getting out of these cities and goin up to the hills. set up yourself a little cabin and get back to basics. we have a lot of food out there but people get so accustomed to having a little factory guy, a little factory dem supply dem food that dem don't know nothing about dem things. but its those who know how to live off the land and to live in harmony with nature, are those that are going to live to survive to start the new cycle of mankind. cause we come to the end of one cycle and get ready to start a new cycle on a higher vibration. any time that cycle change take place, whole lot of people get wiped out. who don't ready fi' take that step. if you making money , make some money to enable you to do without money. put up a little ranch, plant up some fruit trees round it. setup a system where you can catch rain water. rain water is pure distilled water. rain water in most cases is cleaner than spring water. course if you filter, charcoal filter you don't need that poison water to drink. kill people full of nothing but parasite and chemical and disease. same water come through hundred year old pipe. just seep all kind of lead and all the chemicals and the pipe the water which nobody not tell nobody about. ya know what i mean, so...  mankind better go back to make god provide for ya and stop putting your faith in mankind and the factory food which bring you nothing but sickness and disease. the consequence of disobeying the lass of nature is sickness and disease. better believe that. it a natural law of nature and once you disobey that law on any level you going to suffer the consequences. it might take a hundred thousand years but when the time comes you can't get enough power. can't change that. a million years to you is a wink of eye to god. ya know one wink of the eye. one breath is millions of years to the most eye. to you is a millions of years but to the most eye is just a wink of eye. swift ya undastan.

I made this piece of music for Yoko Ono's PEACE is POWER exhibition in Leipzig in 2019. The music itself was not part of the show, but my concept of an acoustic water sculpture was exhibited on a big wall together with many other concepts.

Asa Tone is Jakarta-born Melati Malay and New York based Tristan Arp and Kaazi. In January 2018 the trio travelled to Indonesia during Melati’s annual return home, set up a temporary studio in a house nestled in the jungle’s canopy and recorded a series of improvisational pieces together, later edited for brevity. The music incorporates both digital and analogue processing and largely draws upon the groups collective voice, a small selection of instrumentation (Rindik, Moog Sub 37, Infinite Jets, Suling) and their immediate environment. Despite this, they aimed to record a kind of music together that doesn’t seem to come from one specific place, but instead, from everywhere.

The result is an idiosyncratic voyage of equatorial excursions in voice, mallets and synthesis, both transportative and fluid, yet firmly grounded in the earth. Cyclical, randomized patterns grow and blossom during these often delicate and heartfelt renderings, staying with the listener long after both sides fall silent.

Temporary Music LP will be released on January 31 2020 on Leaving Records. It is the group’s debut album.
