Introducing Sha Ru - the new joint project from producers Ma Sha and Rù fueled by a persuasive fusion of balearic downtempo cuts and rich acid filth.

Drawing influences from the sounds of breakbeat, club, hip-hop, and UK bass, Sha Ru’s debut release “Near The Equinoxes” is a rich and exciting collection of cuts out November 8th via Brooklyn’s Sorry Records. The EP features “PCCCC (Lechuga Zafiro Remix)” — a club-ready take from Uruguayan producer Lechuga Zafiro who is known for his incredible releases through Mexico City’s N.A.A.F.I collective and his own Salviatek label/party.

Sorry Records is a Brooklyn based record label putting out beloved dance and pop music world wide. Lisbon’s Violet has contributed to the latest yearly UN Women compilation, ‘HeForShe x femme culture’. It follows femme culture’s volume two compilation, which saw contributions from Martyn Bootyspoon, Mr Mitch, India Jordan, Nightwave, Lone, and more. As before, all proceeds and sales from the HeForShe Vol. 3 will go to the United Nations Women, the global champion for gender equality. This year, donations from sales will go to making sure that the needs of womxn and girls are recognised and addressed in the global response to Covid-19, as domestic violence and sexual exploitation have sadly risen as a result of social isolation. A spacious, glistening work that recalls the Uncut Gems score at times with its new age synths, naive label head Violet (listen to her Dummy Mix here) offers up ‘Sketching Tomorrows’. Other artists featuring on the compilation are DJ Boring, Yazzus, DJ Python, S-Type and label head Elkka.

Max Winter is a London-based composer (most recently featuring on Or:la's 'MMXX Leap' compilation on her Céad label) whose electronic productions are unique in that much of them were produced for choreographed dance pieces. A student of composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Max wrote latest EP ‘Aporia' for a contemporary dance piece choreographed by Thomas Page, another Trinity alumnus. After the dance was premiered in January 2019, Max decided to condense the score into an EP, which is now seeing a release on Cherche Encore. "This was originally two separate tracks from different moments in the dance," Max Winter says of 'CCK 4', which we're premiering below. "I stitched them together and added the voice of Annika Kordes, who narrated the performance. It is probably the one track on the EP that covers all aspects of the dance." On 'CCK 4', a shimmering synth line is underpinned by a complex array of skittering breakbeats sounding akin to Squarepusher or Venetian Snares. Tune in below.

'I’ve been attempting to convey my feelings out into my art for a long time and I lately I feel like I’ve found a balance. This particular song was done in a week with the specific intention of being political. For me, the sounds are emotional backdrop for the spoken words of Robin D.G. Kelley & Angela Davis of which I hope folks listen to 🖤'
