Advanced Club Music

After the widely acclaimed "Rituals" album released in April 2020, Flore is now back to the cherished area of banger engineering with a four packer of original compositions to be unleashed this spring 2022 on her own POLAAR imprint.
The project’s title itself shows clearly what her program is all about : "Legacy & Broken Pieces" has to be seen as a cruise into the anterior future rather than a trip down memory lane. Following this mantra, it’s more than clear that her music does not constitute a tribute to any previous club music history, but has to be seen as a true proposition of sonic innovation and moving paradigms.

"I'm tired of the nostalgia that can be found in electronic music nowadays. After two years of global pandemic struggle and sanitary crisis and now a war happening in Europe, the world will never be the same. Then why should music has to be so ?" says Flore.

Thus, she offers to rework this legacy with her very own vision of sound wizardry, providing a wide range of sonic textures to fulfill this forward goal of breaking patterns within the electronic continuum. Yet another proof of Flore’s skills for always trying to innovate and never repeat herself.

“Disruption” echoes an aerial jungle of the former century while “Fiery Principle” rides Jamaican waves of bass soon dynamited by minced voice samples evoking a soul goddess from the 90’s. The upbeat intro of “The Switcher” leads us towards a choir of drums navigating various black rooted rhythm traditions, but tripping into a very refined and spatial production effort. The records ends with “Primary Mineral”. Its rough and matte sound seems to drill into a wall of fragmented beats racing towards an elusive end, suggesting another musical adventures to be revisited soon…

Bandcamp-connoisseur with an endless curiosity, Christian Coiffure rigorously collect deep club music from all around the world, making mind games sonorities his favorite playground. Rooted in dub aesthetics, "Lookbook 2021 - 2023" artfully weaves together sonic elements from minimalistic IDM, dubstep, abstract techno, and trancy tech-house, drawing inspiration from Coiffure's UK and aussie club music influences, intertwined with his appetite for experimental and deep electronic music.

The album seamlessly bridges two distinct worlds within the Rennes-based artist universe, offering tracks that cater to both the club environment and introspective listening. Decoys explore the ways that internal perception distorts and develops as it navigates the fluid boundaries of the self. The EP’s title invokes the distracting and alluring elements of an incomplete double—an illusion that, upon closer inspection, uncovers something perhaps even deeper than its originating source. The title track pairs driving rhythms with dark, rustling atmospheres and layers of competing bass punctured by the screech of unidentifiable machines to create a relentless forward momentum with no clear destination. “Imitation Body” layers found sound to assemble a beat that pushes and pulls with a distinct swing, anchored by ghost-like ambiance and an insistent low end. On “Fear Of Others,” paranoia and uncertainty channel into a chest-rattling dubstep excursion. As the track shifts between two distinct moods, the elements anchoring it mutate and shift. The EP closes with “Respite,” a breathy half-time closer accented by bursts of frenetic sound and warbling bass, as though the music itself is resisting disintegration.

With a stream of fascinating appearances Cleyra’s singular production has caught the ears of some of the most adventurous DJs and heads around the world. One of Bristol’s best-kept secrets now lands on Timedance with their sumptuous debut EP ‘remember this body?’. Charged with a juxtaposition between feverish peak time and dreamy downbeat, the producer here displays a sonic palette which is as eerie as it is advanced.

On ’remember this body?’ Cleyra offers a kaleidoscopic view of their diverse approach to crafting songs, nourished with a deep, emotional and seductive energy. Across five tracks we take a deep dive into Cleyra’s idiosyncratic worlds. Subdued pads carry us through lucid-dream-inducing soundscapes where strangeness and elegance go hand in hand. Then come playful twists, as a harder side to their sound is unleashed, engineered to alight the sweatiest and most mutant of dancefloors.

On the flip side, Cleyra takes listeners on a breathtaking ride over the course of a 17-minute epic ’There Is Nothing Happening Between Us’, navigating between mournful ambience and heads-down pulsating Techno with a grace and delicateness rarely heard. The track fades before bringing things home with lush, dubbed-out, synths, suspending time with a poignant elegance.

Early Reflex continues its Eyes series with a powerful return from Brooklyn-based producer
Sobolik, whose distinctive and emotionally resonant club music first landed on the imprint with
Opening track “Sandbox” is a hypnotic roller driven by a constant mantric bass and led by
ethereal, airy synths. The piece flows with emotional clarity, balancing softness and propulsion in
equal measure—an entrancing meditation through rhythm and texture.
On the flip, “Turning Back” explores a darker, more angular energy. Grime-inflected and
basslines. The track moves with restrained intensity, echoing internal shifts and the slow
untangling of anxious loops.
With Eyes III, Sobolik expands on their singular voice within experimental club music, continuing
Early Reflex’s commitment to foregrounding emotionally charged, forward-thinking sonic work.
