HAFT, the Iranian duo of Sam Nasehi and Amir Subb, are known for fusing hypnotic synths, deep- rooted pads, and intricate percussion into a sound that bridges traditional textures with modern progressive house. Their debut three-track EP on Balance Music delivers a journey filled with psychedelic undercurrents and shimmering atmospheres that is crafted equally for the dance floor and for deep listening.

The brooding ‘Driftor’ is designed to nudge any DJ set in the right direction. An off-beat bass drives the engine, allowing you to comfortably sit in the pocket of its inviting narrative. Steely drums and percussion form a cohesive frame, while a bag of tasteful effects, samples, and stabs fill the remaining spaces. Once the breakdown hits, in all its subtlety, you know you’re in the hands of professionals. This is essential prog, designed for any occasion.

There is an undercurrent of psychedelia running through ‘Myntal’, hypnotic and consuming. Low- end frequencies double as notes, merging with the bass to create a dizzying effect. Its main-room identity, however, is confirmed by drums that strut forward with propulsive energy. It all points towards a seductive breakdown, its layering teasing a drop that confirms it: this is designed for floors ready to ignite.

Filled with depth, ‘Prism’ shimmers and shakes as synths and stabs perpetually morph. The result is a continuous stream of sonic moments to lose yourself in. Thankfully, the dense bassline and drums bring you back from the edge of hypnosis, filling the space with an elastic energy as buoyant as a trampoline. Then comes the breakdown: bells dissolve into minor-key haze, half beautiful, half surreal: an inviting dream-logic that is hard to deny.

We are back with another distinctively signature percussion-led release to add to our Libero catalogue. This time it comes from the triple threat of Alessio Bianchi and Tomi&Kesh with two fresh cuts, along with slamming remix of the b-side from Music On favourite Antonio Pica to complete the three-track arsenal. 

‘Roll It Up’ gets things off to a flying start with perpetual rhythm. Tonal toms, shuffled hats and offbeat shots are joined up with a brightly coloured sub bass melody and perfectly balanced drums. Thrown on top is a subtly measured level of atmospherics and vocal presence, making it a well-rounded groove tool and definite vibe builder.

‘Wake & Bake’ carries on the great work of its predecessor with relative ease, using melodic percussive factors to supplement a pleasantly over-sufficient, driving, low bassline. Intricately layered sampling fills out the main body of the track and blends perfectly into the main drum programming, creating hypnotic rolling energy that will keep you moving effortlessly.

Libero favourite, Antonio Pica, seals the deal with an assertively powerful remix of ‘Wake & Bake’. Built around a jacking beat, consisting of hammering kicks, pulsating low bass and a crispy top line; it definitely commands a certain level of attention. Taking influence from memories of the Music On terrace and tracks that inspire a roar from a crowd, he turns it all the way up to 11 with this peak time driver.
