"When I was almost done with college, myself and two friends somehow conned the university into supporting our performance of a live score to Alejandro Jodorowsky's Holy Mountain. I'm not sure what we were thinking, or how we pulled any of it off, but I've wanted to do something like it again ever since. Me and the band talked about it a bit and decided The Birds would be an interesting fit; a surprisingly experimental film that people still know really well. We thought it would be challenging and accessible all at the same time, if we did it justice.  Because the film has no conventional soundtrack, we realized we could easily use the audio as a kind of field recording and sample and manipulate it live while we are improvising.  We don't know what is going to happen but we know that it will happen. 

To mark this audio-visual experiment I've put together a mix of my favorite music from various films; music that really speaks to me.  In some cases these are my favorite composers or performers, in some cases my favorite films, but they are all deeply influential and important to me.  As the great master of suspense once said, ideas come from everything."
