A clear geography of silver poplars 
ashes and maples surrounds this fluvial area.
A narrative of rustles, chatting loudly.
Translations. What we hear and the language
that makes it audible imply investigations

We question affectivity, objects’ reverbs

Inside those cubic metres of soil and air
noise spacialises, builds and hits.

A única maneira de teres sensações novas é construires-te uma alma nova. Baldado esforço o teu se queres sentir outras coisas sem sentires de outra maneira, e sentires-te de outra maneira sem mudares de alma. Porque as coisas são como nós as sentimos — há quanto tempo sabes tu isto sem o saberes? — e o único modo de haver coisas novas, de sentir coisas novas é haver novidade no senti-las.

Desde que nascemos até que morremos mudamos de alma lentamente, como do corpo. Arranja meio de tornar rápida essa mudança, como com certas doenças, ou certas convalescenças, rapidamente o corpo se nos muda.

Não descer nunca a fazer conferências para que não se julgue que temos opiniões, ou que descemos ao público para falar com ele. Se ele quiser que nos leia.

De mais a mais o conferenciador semelha actor — criatura que o bom artista despreza, moço de esquina da Arte.

The Taiji dolphin drive hunt is based on driving dolphins and other small cetaceans into a small bay where they can be killed or captured for their meat and for sale to dolphinariums (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiji_dolphin_drive_hunt).
During the entire six-month long hunting season dolphins are routinely subjected to harassment, suffering and abuse. Dolphins are chased, injured, manhandled, run-over by skiffs, dragged, drowned, taken captive and slaughtered. Entire pods of dolphins are decimated, from the very young to the very old. Sea in the cove turns red with blood as dolphins are slaughtered.

The massacre of dolphins in Taiji is the symbol of human indifference towards Life.

This piece was made for the Disquiet Junto challenge #477:  Flying Blind, the main purpose being to perform a substantial portion of a track without seeing what you're doing.  So...

I set up a stereo pair of mics and a few instruments on a rolling desk in front of me, set up a looper in my DAW, hit record, covered my face by wearing a hoodie backwards, and started playing these instruments with my hands while listening to the loop build up in my headphones.  The instruments I used were:
-steel tongue drum
-kalimba
-empty gallon-sized plastic jug
-children's metallophone

You can also hear my children playing and talking, which was not entirely intentional, but kind of neat.  They get worked into the loops and it turns into a different experience entirely.  After recording, I chopped the performance into four parts (one for each instrument) and processed and arranged them separately.  This is the result.

Time Rival is the ambient music project of Illinois native Michael Southard.  At a young age, Michael became interested in music production and recording engineering, creating countless albums of esoteric, cross-genre music.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in music business from Southern Illinois University in 2007 and has continued honing his production and songwriting skills.
The music of Time Rival is ambient in nature and has been described as “music for dreaming”.  Mostly piano and synthesizers heavily effected by computer wizardry.  It’s generally warm and pleasant with tiny hints of tension.  Music to help the listener decompress and provoke deep thought in this digital age.

Michael also creates technical, beat driven electronic music under the name @SupplyFi, is one half of the duo @Amberglow-3, and collaborates regularly with @runninginslowmotion and @belial-pelegrim.  He is a co-owner @triplicaterecords,  has a monthly radio show on Threadsradio.com and curates mixes and playlists for TRIP FM
