named Marvin 
who tried to speak out 
he even made all the non believers 
doubt

but u cant keep ya head down
and be thinkin like that

wont be anything but flat

ull be restless, bored, and
always doing the same thing
ull   be the kid on the playground
who never leaves the swing

but just stays there swaying back and forth
in constant motion
just a an old toy
with the same old function

but marvin didn’t do the same thing
he went to a different beat
and in the process 
he accomplished quite the feat

of becoming one of the most unique artists
of all time
he did just that by coming up 
with unbelievable rhythms

that might have been simple
but sure were deep
that made u so happy
yet made ya weep

cause the power of a song can do
that in a way
It make u see sunshine even on the cloudiest
of days

was cut short
aint it wasn’t cause of anything that he 
tried to snort 

it was cause he was shot dead
shot by his dad
because he was sticking up for his mother
and he made his father mad

So he hit his dad 
and the coward took out a gun
and there wasn’t enough time for 
marvin to run

So next u know he was 
down on the floor
he was on the verge right now 
of going beyond and opening the door

And there marvin gaye died
one of the greatest to give
some of the best music ever made
in only the 44 years he lived

About my older brother who recently took his life. He could be the happiest kid one moment and the most depressed the next. I mean he went through some fucked up shit throughout his life, and resorted to drug abuse. He was 7 months sober too at the time. Just drank liquor the night of. It's a damn shame because he was really turning it around. Just shows that depression strikes deep.
