We're gonna need to pick up the pace for today's #7DaysofVGM! For this track, I went back to my mini-game piece from yesterday and did quite a few things to it! I sped it up, pitched up the bell and violins, changed the violins from pizzicato to legato, and changed the piano lines into triads. Hope you enjoy, and finish before time runs out!🎶🎶

Day 6 Pick Up The Pace

This month's #7DaysofVGM is a fun one!😃😃The theme is "VG SFX", so this entire week will be turning sound effects into music compositions! This was inspired by SmartGamePiano on YouTube, who created a video turning Pokémon cries into compositions. 

Speaking of, Day 1 was just that; turning the cry of a Poliwag into a composition. However, Poliwag shares this cry with the Pokémon Ditto, so my piece is focused on the latter. Known as the Transform Pokémon, it is known to turn itself into anyone and anything, so I made this to represent how awesome that process is. And it can also be what Ditto hears as it changes into something new.

The first thing you'll hear is the Pokémon cry, followed by the transcribed notes. Afterwards, the piece begins. Hope you enjoy!🎶🎶

Ditto: The Transform Pokémon

For Day 2 of #7DaysofVGM, the sound effect to transform is the Lavos cry from Chrono Trigger. Now...I have never played Chrono Trigger, so this track is focused on how intense and harsh the sound effect is🎶🎶

Since it sounded like the sound of an alien/boss-type character, this track is meant to continue that uneasy, menacing feeling. I hope you enjoy what you hear before my gamer card gets taken away!🤣🤣

Day 2 Lavos (Chrono Trigger)

Day 3 of #7DaysofVGM took quite a turn for me! What started out as a sound effect from Mega Man Zero turned into some dark and sinister level track😨😱

The instruments definitely took the reins from me here, and I gotta say, I like this one a lot🎶🎶May have to revisit it in the future. Hope you enjoy!😄

Day 3 Press Start (Mega Man Zero)

Day 5 of #7DaysofVGM has quite the familiar sound effect! Pretty much everyone knows the Lakitu starting sound for Mario Kart, and it was fun to transform this into something new🎶🎶

The tip for today was to use a scale or mode that has not been used before, so I used Dorian mode for this, and changing that one note was just enough for this track🤔🙂

Day 5 Start Signal (Mario Kart)

This was an interesting sound effect to turn into music🤔The Day 6 sound for #7DaysofVGM is the death sound from Ocarina of Time, and I think I did a good job with this🙂I used the melody notes for the bass and changed the key.

It's my first time using a bassoon and clarinet in my tracks, but they get the job done and really turn this piece into a sort of town environment. Hope you enjoy!🎶🎶

For my take on it, I focused on making sounds that resembled despair and worry, as the listener tries to kindle a fire in a cave to retain whatever warmth is left to survive that cold winter night.

Day 4 Yeti Attack/Mini-Boss

Bit of a quick one today for #7DaysofVGM! The prompt for Day 5 is "Village of the Winter Elves", and the idea I had was to compose the player entering the village. Once I switched the meter to 6/8, it became perfect!😃🙌🏾

Overworld

Ok, so I ended up having to skip Day 4 because overall, I wasn't too happy with what I had laid out for the "Battle" prompt. I guess you could say I was a bit under-leveled.

However, I'm very happy at today's #7daysofvgm prompt, "Dungeon", because it's given me the chance to grind and earn a few levels for this and the remaining tracks in the challenge! For this track, I continued the story from my Day 1 piece and went all-in on a Persona-inspired number for the castle. Because you have to have a groove as you make your way to the heart of the dungeon!

Day 6 for this month's #7DaysofVGM challenge, and the prompt is "Boss Battle"! For my track here, I went FULL rock to portray the epic feeling of a final battle in a JRPG; the feeling that you and your party had come so far, and you have only one goal left: Defeat the Final Boss!
