A new year means a new mixtape. And this year starts just excellent with a strong all-around electronic mix by DJ Wosto, who is ½ of the mysteriolus duo Fallbeil. He created Fallbeil together with his friend Kluentah three years ago. And they have released on labels like New York Haunted, Contort Yourself,  Terminal Operations, Hafenschlamm Records and Return To Disorder.

But Wosto’s history goes way longer back. Exactly when is hard to say, but weed is said to be an inspiration, the prefered audience is animals and his idol is Bruno Banani. In other words Wosto is a funny guy. He is originally from Bratislava, but lives in Hamburg (Germany) though – home of TISSUE Magazine. 

He says himself that structure is what makes a track good, and he shows here how to structure an entire mix as well. Wosto mashes old funny records with weird sounds and folkloristic tunes with an Arabic, Eastern European or French touch with banging deep basses, but also high pitching synths. And there are definitely some 80ies throwback tracks. So for sure nobody puts Wosto in a box, but he obviously knows every ingredient that is needed in the pot. Anything can happen. Jump into it.

On this very day, we celebrate our 2,5 year anniversary. We started this journey to create a platform for upcoming artists and to have absolute legends on this series like this man from Dallas. Having shared a stage with the likes of DJ Stingray, Dopplereffekt, Arpanet, Ultradyne, etc while also releasing at labels like CPU Records, Fundamental Records(with Machine Funk Volume 2 on its way), Electro Records(his latest Hologram Killer is an absolute must-have!) and Barba Records (Double LP coming up) it might be a bit of an understatement to say that this man has made quite the name for himself. 

Here are a few words from Cygnus himself about this podcast: "At first I wanted to do a bunch of electro music. And then I thought, “does anyone really feel like dancing right now?” Everybody seems exhausted. I’m exhausted, at least. Maybe someone, at least one person would appreciate a different take on this unusually powerful nightmare we are all watching unfold.
 
So it’s all calm, chill stuff with a spacey vibe. Anyone who knows me really well knows this is my territory. I nearly added the Interlude music from Ghost in the Shell, but didn’t, thinking maybe the copyright police would bomb the DUSK offices in Amsterdam. However, I did record a thunderstorm and added that.
 
These are just things that point our mind inward. Quiet moods, silence, rain, calming voices, I think a lot of the black voices taking the foreground in these past few weeks are very pained, loud, traumatized, hurt voices, and they are very much so a result of the abuse and completely deranged behaviour of elected authorities and police.  But there are more tones to the black voice – there is the deep, warm, calming mood, the ability to calm you down, to help you visualize a better future for yourself, to stop abusing yourself and let your mind calm down. I fear people forgetting that us black people are capable of unimaginable compassion and gentleness in the midst of all this outrage. These are my lone thoughts.  I think it is very good to calm down and let our minds relax.  We don’t have to run away from how we feel all the time either. It’s gonna be okay. Hope you are all well.
