In the morning light, the gray earth below stretched endlessly in all directions, littered with garbage. House-sized boulders had reached the point where they could no longer move and were piled on top of each other. It looked like a shipping warehouse, he thought, where all the goods had left and only the jumbled fragments of the crates remained. Once upon a time, he thought, crops grew here and countless animals grazed leisurely. It was amazing to think that something had grazed here.
