‘Tantra’ is the new single from German polymath, Timo Maas. Taken from his latest artist album, ‘Lifer’, the track is the latest release during a vintage year for the acclaimed German DJ and producer.

As expected with any Rockets & Ponies release, the label has assembled a crack squad of remixers including Tom Demac (who’s about to drop a forthcoming collaboration with Will Samson on Aus), James Teej (the My Favourite Robot boss returns the favour for Timo’s reworking of ‘Liking Your Disorder’), Atelier Francesco (a new project and accompanying pseudonym from an already eclectic Italian producer) and Wolfgang Haffner (the ECHO music award-winning German drummer famous for his work with Nightmares On Wax and beyond).

Timo’s first new artist album for several years, Lifer, included guest spots from Mikill Pane, Placebo’s Brian Molko, U.N.K.L.E’s James Lavelle, Katie Cruel and more. The album arrived on the cusp of a summer season that saw him celebrate 10 years as a resident at DC10 in Ibiza, alongside shows at Used & Abused with Loco Dice, and the ANTS opening and closing events at Ushuaia.

Farther afield, Timo played standout parties for My Favorite Robot at Sonar (on the beach and a hotel rooftop), plus US gigs at New York’s Cielo club and at Wavefront – all in addition to his hectic globe-traversing schedule. Details on his forthcoming US and South American tour dates will be released soon.

Outside of ‘Lifer’, this year Timo produced, ‘Pop A Bubble’, his own original contribution to Cocoon’s 100th release compilation, and remixes for James Teej on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label and Johnny Mikes on Lower East Records; reworkings that added to a remix pedigree that includes Madonna, Depeche Mode, Muse, Fatboy Slim and beyond.

Timo’s remix for Hackman is due in late January 2014 on LA's HaloCyan Records. The next remix EP from ‘Lifer’ comes complete with remixes from The Martinez Brothers, Maetrik (Maceo Plex), Addison Groove, Fur Coat, Livio & Roby, and Luca Lozano, and is due in December.

Ever at ease straddling the somewhat disparate worlds of underground electronic music culture and credible muso pop, Timo and his production partner, Santos, created Rockets & Ponies for both their own productions, and outings from the likes of Maetrik, Tobi Neumann, Riva Starr, Giorgio Roma and more, and they continue to welcome new talent to the imprint. The next single is from Wolfgang Haffner, backed by remixes from Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, Nightmares on Wax, Timo Maas & Acid Mondays.

Chris & Natasha are lifetime musicians that met at the courses of the National Music University in Bucharest, back in 2012, creating their own everyday paradise soundtrack ever since. In 2017, the duo - live act took part in the #wildmusictracks experiment in which they transformed a bus into a musical instrument on the way to Sunwaves Festival and they were also invited as production trainers along with Rhadoo, Mahony and Fouchat, in the Romanian DJ Bootcamp. 2018 had even better energy, as they've by being nominated as one of the 2018's "ones-to-watch" artists.

I went pretty minimal on this one, no hi-hats, and pretty much no drums actually, just a kick and much later into the track a snare comes in.....There was something about the simple repetitive 2 note melody hits and chords I landed on that just seemed to work without needing anything much else, well hopefully it works for other people too and not just me. It's been going down really well in the clubs at least, it seems to make people clap for some reason, maybe because it's so simple and kick focused rhythmically, it's got a bit of a marching stomp feel.

I stripped out most of the parts from the original, and focused on the great pads and vocal sweeps, which seemed to lead to the melodic idea somehow. It was one of those remixes which flowed nice and easily, not too much conscious thought required, I just let it flow out.

about crafting, building, teasing and eventually pleasing. From hefty concrete funk to stripped-
back and brain-altering techno via psychedelic synths stronger than any drug, he knows exactly 
what to play and when. He has done so at every major club and festival on the planet from 
Tomorrowland to Kazantip, Creamfields to Coachella, while for 17 years during the golden years 
of Ibiza's Circoloco party at DC10 he was a regular guest, which is a testament to the fact that 
he has always stayed ahead of the times. 
Two-time Grammy Award-nominated Timo has made every shade of electronic music from 
famous remixes of Azzido Da Bass and Depeche Mode, leftfield reworks of Afro-Peruvian group 
Novalima and Indonesian all-female heavy metal band Voice of Baceprot via work with pop 
greats like Paul McCartney, Madonna and Placebo. But his pure love of techno keeps him 
coming back to his most famous sound. It's all united by his ability to craft weighty bass and 
rolling drums that lock you in. To dream up unusual breakdowns, freaky vocal treatments and 
deftly designed details that sound like nothing else. He has released on majors like Warner and 
Virgin and underground staples like Stripped Down Records, Cocoon, Mobilee, Tenampa and 
Last Night On Earth. But whatever he does and wherever he does it, Timo is always 
investigating new musical grounds.
