It’s always wonderful to see the rise of a label that stands for quality music, supports new and established and artists yet has a sound, look and feel that that is still fresh and forward thinking. Industry stalwart Steve Lawler has achieved exactly that with VIVa Music, having built a credible back catalogue of records that sound as good now as when they were first released. Hence, when Steve asked us if we wanted to exclusively premiere a track from fast rising Leeds’ producer Denney’s new EP for his label we took a listen and snapped ‘This Is Music’ right up!

Titled ‘On & On’ those of you who spent time in Ibiza this summer may well already be somewhat familiar with the the EPs two original tracks and their remixes, with all five cuts finding themselves on heavy rotation in the sets of Denney and the other members of the VIVa Warriors clan over the past few months.

“Both ‘On & On’ and ‘This Is Music’ were made with the intention of being peak time records on an acid house tip.” Denney explains. “I wanted to create some party records that were both soulful but also had the 303 running through them. They have been tried and tested from BPM to Miami to Ibiza and have been doing serious damage in my DJ sets.”

Set to arrive October 30th complete with remixes from Justin Robertson, Waif & Strays and Monday Club and, we’re sure you’ll be hearing plenty more of ‘This Is Music’ and Denney this winter.

The Golden Boy - Taking Me

TIMOS was born in Frankfurt Main Germany. In the year 2000, at the age of 15, he discovered his love for house and techno music and started to buy vinyl records. 2003, at the age of 18, Timos started producing. Three years later Anthony Rother employed him as labelmanager for datapunk, where he has worked for 2 years. In 2008, he decided to start his own music label SONIDO RECORDS. In the same year, intergroove distribution hired TIMOS to work for its label- and manufacturing department.

The first release on SONIDO RECORDS was also his first release ever. TIMOS - Vendor included 2 remixes by Reboot and Alexi Delano and was played by well known djs like Steve Bug, Onur Özer, Tobi Neumann, Mathias Kaden, Wighnomy Brothers, Markus Fix, Robert Dietz, Seph and Nick Curly. SONIDO RECORDS built itself a great roster of releases, artists and remixers like Meat, Jacuzzi Boys, Jamy Wing, Vera, M.in & David Keno. 8 releases were published since the beginning. 2009, TIMOS started his DJ-career. His sets are a mixture of funky house and techno, influenced by the early house movements in the 90’s and the so called frankfurt house / techhouse style. Since one year as a DJ, TIMOS already played in clubs all over germany. like the famous CocoonClub, Monza and Kingkamehameha Beachclub in Frankfurt, the Bootshaus in Cologne and on festivals like SOS – Sonne, Mond und Sterne with DJs like Matthias Tanzmann, Onur Özer, Fatboy Slim, Chris Tietjen, Meat, Einzelkind and many more. In 2010, two releases followed on BigCityBeats Tec. and Sonido Records, which were charted and played by DJs like Reboot, Nick Curly, Onsulade and many more. Since 2010 he got a residency at the world famous Cocoon Club in the lounge room of the club.
