This is an example of a self generating patch created in Kyma. Two sine wave oscillators were cross modulated to create a complex watery sounding wave which was then recorded into Pro Tools. That sample was then imported into Kyma's TAU editor for analysis and modification and finally manipulated using Cloudbank synthesis. Just hit the space bar and let it run. It took about an hour.

Alien Conversation

Demo of a pair of 'Little Blondie' microphones through an API 3124+ preamp and Symbolic Sound Capybara. The guitar is a 1980 Bob Laughlin acoustic 6 string using Elixer nanoweb strings. Recorded into Pro Tools at 48kHz / 24 bit and then encoded into a 320 kbps. mp3 using iTunes. Organ is a DB-33 RTAS virtual Hammond B3 through a virtual Leslie 147. No audio editing was performed. Minimal automation on the Leslie speed and organ volume. ITB audio processing was: 2.5 to 1 compression, slap echo and a tad of reverb in an attempt to create a live performance in a small hall.

The result of giving myself a creative and technical challenge of creating a complete soundscape from two samples. One sample was 12 frames and the other was 18 frames  in duration which, when totalled, equals one second. All sounds were generated using Kyma and then transferred into Pro Tools for editing and mixing. The original samples are used as bookends.

This piece is an homage to the great French Romantic composers for pipe organ: César Franck, Camille Saint-Saens and Charles-Marie Widor. Created using two recordings of my voice; one singing Ooo and the other Ahhh at 440Hz. 209 samples, or one cycle, of each was then extracted using the Kyma sample editor. Those two files were then time stretched to make the required 4096 samples to be used as the waveforms in Kyma's oscillators. I then created a 'sound' with multiple oscillators in different octaves, some detuned to create a tremolo effect. Polyphony was then set to eight voices and controlled via MIDI from Reaper twice; one pass using the Oooscillators and the other using the Ahhhcillators.
