Wahi Pana is a full length film DVD and soundtrack CD on the life and music of Jeff Peterson.  It features live performances at the places that have inspired so much of his music from the Haleakalā Ranch on Maui to Waikiki, Nu’uanu Pali, Sandy Beach, Lanikai, Manoa Valley, and the Ko’olau Mountains above Honolulu.  It also features the premiere performance of Jeff’s Concerto For Slack Key Guitar and Orchestra with the Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra and live performances at the Blue Note Hawaii, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, and other venues with Benny Chong, Riley Lee, Kenny Endo, Noel Okimoto, and Byron Yasui.  The beautiful performance footage and film was shot by Maui-based film maker David Barry using the latest 4K video technology.

I am in the Seattle area and looking for private parties and restaurants to perform at.  If you have a situation or can arrange such a situation I would love to speak with you.   Also, if you are a musician who needs some steel guitar on your tracks, contact me.  I love new challenges.
Bio:
Since I was a young child, that one thing I wanted to do was play music.  It really had nothing to do with performance or being the “star.”  But it was that stimulation that went on in my head when I listened, especially to classical music.  It was my “rush.”
My mom & dad are both players and still play all the time.  My dad started me out by just tapping on a beanbag ashtray with a butter knife to the rhythm of his accordion.   They were really into country music: Ernest Tubb, Hank Snow and such. We played waltzes and polkas, schottisches and country.  After mastering beanbag ashtray I started learning drums and violin, which lead to bass and then to guitar and keyboards.  Eventually about thirty years back I started to study pedal steel guitar.  Pedal Steel is the instrument you hear in “Don’t Know Why” or “Twittle E. Dee.”  Composed of whining liquid emotions, it’s the honey thick sound spelling out the melodies in a lot of my music. About six years back I was given a nylon string classical guitar.  I play that thing constantly although after playing electric and acoustic guitars since about five years of age I still found classical to be an incredible challenge.  Yet, as with all the instruments I have accomplished, I still get the same rush in my brain from it all.
I perform to performance level: pedal steel in a universal tuning, lead, acoustic, classical and bass guitar, drums, violin, flute and I putts with keyboards in the studio.  I am also very strong in electronics with an Associates Degree plus production and sound engineering.
I’ve written tons of music, produced ads for radio, produced books on CD with lots of background music, won awards for singing and composition and about twenty years ago I started teaching music. I enjoy teaching greatly and find most of my students to be wonderful breaths of fresh air.  I frankly do not know if I enjoy more mastering an instrument or helping one of my students do such.  I hope I will get the opportunity to keep teaching right up to the day I leave this earth.
In the mean time I have worked hard to bring my performance to a level where it’s not just me playing guitar but a finely honed set up of skills, instrumentation and sound system with the hope that those who listen will get that same rush from the music I get.
The music on this page is a collection of things I’ve written and commercial music in the form of demos.  I am hoping if you are in the Seattle area (or close) you might hear the small sample and think, “this guy might be good for my restaurant, winery, private party, wedding or whatever your occasion is.
