The B12 story started back in the early nineties when @mikegolding and Steve Rutter helped define the UK's intelligent techno and early electronica scene. Releasing on their own self-titled label as well as Warp, they turned out cult classics like Electro-Soma. From 1996, they took the best part of a decade off before returning in 2008. To this day, the music remains firmly in the future, with sci-fi designs and languid rhythms unfolding in cinematic fashion.

And that plays out in this week's brilliantly atmospheric podcast. It's a sensitive journey through an expansive world of glistening electronics and synth-laden sounds. Rhythms nod to IDM, braindance, techno and bass. As the tempos vary, tender and thoughtful passages sit happily next to more muscular and physical workouts. Few artists get such beauty out of their machines as B12.

Arguing that it’s about time for Stefan Vincent to step into the limelight is understating matters. After all, if you’re able to count the heads of some of the world’s finest labels, (think Token, Non Series and Dynamic Reflection) and the likes of Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills among your fans, you’re obviously doing something right. This relative anonymity isn’t something that troubles the Amsterdam based producer, DJ and live act, though: more than willing to invest time in his art, the man literally lives in his studio and so is in no hurry whatsoever.

His path, unlike that of many, hasn’t found him go from playing records to making them, but instead, after discovering work by inspirational figures like Steve Rachmad, Surgeon and Jeff Mills, Stefan immediately set to work on his won creative projects. Whether it is playing a DJ set or cooking up an expressive live set, Stefan always translates his singularly deep, rich and driving sound into the club environment. With a good amount of solid techno releases under his belt, he continues to win over the hearts and dancing feet of audiences acrossthe planet.

Miroslav started DJing about two years ago and has been part of our Clique for four years now. She slowly got involved in the Freiburg subcultural scene by organising a bunch of events with the clique. Back in 2024, she co-founded our second collective, SYMPULS, with our friends from Impuls-Crew.

Her passion for picking and playing music has grown and developed a lot over the last few years. She started out as a DJ two years ago, playing at a bunch of events in Freiburg's subcultural scene and slowly getting her name out there. Her style is characterised by deeeep bass sounds and dubbyish leftfield house and techno productions.

Residual Signals

Rooted in the Post-Internet condition, this work translates the residue of digital history into tactile sound. The noise of compression and decay becomes new material: MP3 artifacts shimmer like fractured glass, and broken data pulses with new weight. The idea reaches back to the early mainstream internet era, when downloaded MP3s were heavily compressed and bandwidth was limited. Glitches were not a stylistic choice but a byproduct of digital scarcity.
