We look back at Andrew Bayer's expansive catalogue to date through his Selected Works (2008 - 2020) compilation, out now on Anjunabeats.

Anjunabeats would not be the label it is today without Andrew Bayer. A unique artistic voice, he's been one of the most treasured members of our family ever since we signed Signalrunners' 'Aria Epica' in 2006. 

His 2011 debut album 'It's Artificial', described by Mixmag as “an incredible album of sophisticated electronica”, set the bar high. The 2013 follow-up, ‘If It Were You, We’d Never Leave’, took an even bolder creative direction, earning comparisons to DJ Shadow, Moby and Flying Lotus by XLR8R. His latest studio LP 'In My Last Life', released in 2018, drew inspiration from influences as far and wide as Kate Bush, Talk Talk, Aphex Twin and Atoms for Peace. 

GRAMMY-nominated for his work with Above & Beyond, the diversity of his production output is unrivalled. Andrew's Selected Works (2008 - 2020) compilation celebrates this. Across two mixes, you'll find 34 tracks that have defined Andrew throughout his career; spanning the intricately-constructed electronica of 'From The Earth', 'Immortal Lover' and 'Open End Resource', to explosive club tracks 'Once Lydian', 'Magitek' and 'Celestial'.

The next chapter of Sunny Lax's storied career begins with his 'Emerald EP', out now on Anjunabeats.

One of our most beloved artists, Levente Márton, aka Sunny Lax, has been part of our family since 'P.U.M.A / Cassiopeia' in 2006. “Back in those days you had to send CDs to labels in the post,” Márton says. “I sent ‘Cassiopeia’ and ‘P.U.M.A’ to nine or ten different labels, and Anjuna loved them.” Above & Beyond played ‘P.U.M.A’ four times in a row on their Trance Around The World radio show, and Armin van Buuren subsequently made ‘P.U.M.A’ the Record Of The Week and featured it on his ASOT Yearmix Album in 2005. A star was born.

Since then, Sunny Lax has grown and flourished alongside Anjunabeats. “Back then I produced 140BPM uplifting trance, and we did that together for six years,” Levente says. “But then everything started changing around 2011.” Spearheaded by Above & Beyond, ilan Bluestone, Oliver Smith and Sunny, a cleaner, more progressive trance sound emerged.

Many of Sunny Lax's productions in this era drove the 'trance 2.0' sound forward. 2015’s 'Enceladus' is a fine example. “That’s still my most popular track,” he says. “So many big artists played it at huge events.” The success of ‘Enceladus’ was unplanned. Levente remembers messing around in his studio, relaxed, happy and with no intention of producing a hit. “Sometimes when you’re in that state something pure and effortless comes out,” he says. Its place in Anjuna legend was cemented by Sunny dropping 'Enceladus' to 20,000 fans at Above & Beyond's ABGT250 celebrations at the Gorge, alongside fellow Anjunabeats stalwart and good friend Genix.

In recent years, Sunny's trademark melodic trance sound has been a cornerstone of Anjunabeats' release schedule: highlights include 'Solar Plexus', 'Losing It', 'V.I.B.E.' and 2020's 'End Of Our Time EP'. He's headlined shows across the globe and has been a regular guest at Anjunabeats' label showcases, plus recently supporting Above & Beyond on their Anjunafamily Reunion Tour and at their Group Therapy Weekender London festival.

The 'Emerald EP' marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Sunny Lax - featuring three tracks that Sunny has been extensively roadtesting on tour, 'Ayahuasca', 'Emerald' and 'Dance With Me'.

"The past few years were a rollercoaster for many of us, with all its difficulties and beauties. In these times as an artist I had the chance to slow down and pay a little more attention to my inner voice. When the world was a little too mad around me, I escaped into the music - into the heartwarming melodies, and when the world became too quiet, I filled it up with loud rhythms.

The 'Emerald EP' is a first chapter of something new. This is a journey which I hope will bring you inspiration, balance, wisdom, and patience! Bearing the prestigious ‘tronce’ seal (that's British for ‘trance’) ‘Mama Africa’ delivers an ilan Bluestone-sized hit of driving rhythmic bass, cascading layers of synth and the return of collaborator EL Waves (Elizabeth Osei) for another stunning vocal performance.

Elizabeth explains how the track draws heavily from her cultural roots, “This is a song of love and blessing for my mother, father and loved ones. In Akan culture we recognise the sacrifices that each individual makes when raising children of the next generation, passing down wisdom from old to new. Sending out blessings is something we do to show love and appreciation and to say thank you.”

ilan Bluestone ‘Mama Africa’ featuring EL Waves is set for release on Anjunabeats on the 19th of February with the full EP arriving this spring.

Tim van Werd’s interest in music began at a young age with the drums, trumpet, and piano through training in classical, pop, and jazz music.
As a melodic house producer, this expertise shines through in his seamless productions and dynamic style that blends elements of different genres.
Since 2012 Tim started playing in clubs and in 2013 he started producing his own music. In 2016 he graduated at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht as a Dance Producer.

With over 15 million streams on his releases and dreamy livesets Tim is indispensable in the melodic scene.
A highlight this year is a release on Armin van Buuren's recordlabel Armada. Armin invited Tim to play at A State Of Trance and recorded a podcast to talk about his career.
One of his most successful songs 'Believe' is loved by many in the melodic scene with over 2 million streams on Spotify.

Beside singles Tim was asked to remix the legendary songs 'Reflekt - Need To Feel Loved' and 'Michael Gray - The Weekend'.
Tim van Werd's discography got acknowledged by leading artists all over the world, for example; Joris Voorn, Tinlicker, Eelke Kleijn, Nora en Pure.

This year Tim is picking up speed. Playing Shows in Europe and turning up the heat at the main stage of the Ultra Sonic Festival in Holland are just a few things that will propel him to the next level.
