RetroBlue - City Nights (ft. Peter Jessy)

On this day 7 years ago I had just finished one of my very first tracks and I went home in the morning to proudly show this to my dad.
He was a musician in a few bands and his approval meant a lot to me.
I got home at 11 in the morning and noticed police in the house. I really didn't know what to expect, I feared someone broke in the house or something but when I got inside it was worse than I thought..

My mom sat next to me and explained that my dad had commited suicide at his mothers house who found him..
For me the realization came right away because he was very depressed for a while and there were a lot of signs that I still feel bad for not seeing at the time.
I remember in that moment and the weeks after everything felt so unreal and dark that I became depressed for a long time aswell because all of a sudden, a huge part of your life is gone, and also for blaming myself that I could have done more to help.When I was at a memorial party a few weeks later organized by the people who my dad played music with + friends and fans, I said to myself that one day I will dedicate a track to him, but for the longest time nothing really sounded right. When I started working on the melodies for Life Echoes On something clicked. I thought a lot whether I should tell this story or not.

The initials of the track, Leo, my fathers name - tie his story to this track. It’s a very sad story, but the ending is hopeful and inspiring. My dad lives on in me, and if I managed to turn something so devastating into something beautiful.. maybe it reaches someone going through a dark time. Maybe me going so far out of my comfort zone and sharing all of this ends up helping someone.. Maybe it starts conversations that would never have occured, maybe it sheds some light, maybe not. But if there is even a tiny bit of a chance that it could, then it would’ve been worth it
