"February 2013. My roomie at the time gets back to our small apartment late in the evening and is extremely excited. He's back from a long rehearsal session with his new band and is eager to play me a recording of their latest song. 
        "It's kind of unfinished." he says, pulling out his phone, playing the track and maxing the volume. I can barely hear a thing on the poor recording so he talks me through it.
        "It needs more bass here, the drums are a bit too rough and loud, we don't really have any lyrics yet…" It's a pretty catchy tune.

Almost exactly a year later I go to see their first gig. They've been holding them off, waiting for the right venue. They open for another band but are so confident, tight and in-control that I swear you'd mistake the main act for the after party. As soon as they start playing the guitar hook for "Millions of Ghosts" I'm in love. The recording from my roomies phone has grown up. After the gig I ask if a remix of the track could be something for Tin. 
        "Definitely!" 

After the first Millions-session with Tin, me and my girlfriend are invited to my now ex-roomies moms 50th birthday party. With me I have the beginning of the remix - a recording from the first session. I'm hesitant at first but my girlfriend finally convinces me that a preview for my ex-roomie would in no way be lethal, so I pull out my phone, play the track and max the volume.
        "It's kind of unfinished." I say, before talking him through the stub of a track. "

Locals - Millions Of Ghosts (Tin Ivo Remix)

"Its early, early spring and the wind is biting as Im setting up my tripod in the middle of the road, in the middle of the bridge, in the middle of the night. Ive just bought a new camera and heard a new song and Im super stoked to be able to combine them both in a music video. Whats even cooler is that the people who created the said song has expressed interest in seeing the outcome. The excitement and pressure is killing me. Im starstruck since the band is Humfree Bug Art and everything they do is spot on. 

Im out all night filming bokeh, and its not until way to late that I realize that all of my footage is crap and that the idea I have for the video is even worse. I hide the footage and never say a word to anyone about it again, especially not to the band. 

More than a year passes. Tin is looking for something new to do and the consensus is that it would be fun to play other peoples music, but in a Tin Ivo way. Almost like a cover band, but extremely different. I start looking for remix opportunities and send out demos to people who might be interested. Turns out some are and the new project is a huge success - it has never sounded better. 

When the singer from Humfree Bug Art answers positively and gives Hawaii/Mirrors a green light the whole remix-thing starts getting weird. The Tin sessions get sloppy, the music gets messy and everything seems to fall apart. The excitement and pressure is killing, I'm starstruck. Humfrees two tracks are so perfect that it seems redundant trying to top or match them.

After a month of attempting to prop up something that refuses to hold I listen to the recording again and suddenly realize that all of the mistakes, all of the mess-ups, all of the falling apart is what makes the track. The focus has been skewed all along and all  effort has been put into trying to perfect something that thrives on its quirks and imperfections. Tin heads back to the studio and finishes the whole thing in one sitting. "
