A conversation with WHCR90‬.3FM about my hydrofarm program @ PS208

On Friday, March 15, 2019, more than a thousand students from NYC schools descended upon City Hall for the Youth Climate Strike, in solidarity with 15-year-old Swedish climate activist and Nobel Prize nominee, Greta Thunberg. Elementary students from Brooklyn, New York participated in the event and a couple wanted to share their Climate Change message with you  via their inaugural "Byte-Sized Podcasts from Pint-sized Humans" series!

Eight years ago, when I made a career change to leave the corporate world and move into education, I didn’t expect to land on sustainability.  At first, I taught mostly environmental aspects of sustainability; but as I learn and grow, I know to also consider economic viability and social equity, making up the 3 pillars of sustainability.

Today, I help transform schools, from greening infrastructure projects to re-designing curriculum; I teach, I facilitate, I coach.  I advise, I council and often, I learn. I produce eco-fashion shows and throw fairies and gnomes garden parties! I make learning fun; but most importantly, I make it accessible. 

I value relationships and build them often.  I lead without judgement and connect with authenticity. Ultimately, I drive culture change, because I hear it, I see it and I feel it. I create memories and moments; ones that I hope will shape a more sustainable worldview for my students, my school staff and my community.
