So I had my first ever headline set at Skyline this past weekend, and I learned what it really means to be a DJ. Now, I'll never be a DJ like John Digweed, who can create this whole vortex of sound, and while all the craziness is going on, he's just standing at the center of the eye of the storm, eyes on his mixer, in complete control. How I DJ is completely different. I like to bring my passion for this music, I like to bring my enthusiasm for this music into the DJ booth. 

Because how I create a connection with the dancefloor, and that's what DJing to me is really all about, creating a connection with the dancefloor. How I do that is I hope the clubbers on the dancefloor can see a little bit of themselves in me. They can say, hey, just like this guy is enthusiastic and passionate about the music, I'm just as enthusiastic and passionate myself. If he can do it, I can do it. 

So in the words of Danny Tenaglia, just be yourself. As much as DJing is a skill set, it's also a mindset. You have it in you to go and achieve your dreams. Just go out and do it. Let's go.

Connecting Souls 110 on Proton Radio with this month as my guest Mark MacLeod!

Deep Down Music founder Mark MacLeod comes from a long line of musical talent. He was part of the original rave scene in Toronto and a regular resident in many of Montreal’s best house music clubs. This is when he began to move to the deeper side of electronic music.
Over the years Mark has refined his sound: Mark doesn’t like the obvious ‘hands in the air’ hit. That’s too easy. Instead, Mark prefers to build the audience up more slowly. A subtle, never ending simmer. For Mark, the rhythm and bassline are the most important elements in a track.
His productions range from downtempo to the deeper sides of progressive house.

Background
Tini Tun was born and raised in Mexico City, in 1990, along with his brother DJ Quecho, he formed one of the most important electronic bands in Mexico called Conditus. They composed several tracks like “Move Your Hands in the Air” and “Neptuno” which were released on several major dance compilations in his country.

National Experience
A year later at the age of 15, Tini Tun began his DJ career playing at the first rave parties in Mexico City, with excellent response from the audience. He became one of the pioneers of progressive music in the Mexico electronic scene. From then on, he has played around the country in all major cities like Monterrey, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Puebla, Cuernavaca, Morelia, Chihuahua, Culiacan, Merida, Cancun, Acapulco, Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Playa del Carmen, among others. Every year he is invited to play at the legendary BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen.

International Experience
Today, Tini Tun is asked to play around the world for his rapid career record and impressive impact on the international audience. He has played in several countries like Costa Rica (Contacto Parties), Peru, Argentina, Guatemala, El Salvador, the UK, Switzerland, Prague, Russia, Canada, Puerto Rico, the USA and South Korea. 
After becoming a member of the prestigious Balance Record Pool back in 1997, he performed in several festivals and clubs across the US at The Mardi Gras Festival in New Orleans, San Francisco (1015), New York (Twilo), Chicago (Crobar), Los Angeles (Giant), Colorado, Virginia, Atlanta, Seattle, Minneapolis and Las Vegas.

International Events
He has appeared at the Ministry of Sound Sessions for the UK Radio broadcasted on several radio stations in North America.
In the year 2000 Tini Tun played in front of 15,000 people at the ACA World Fest in Acapulco with an excellent performance.
In 2002, John Digweed shows Tini Tun as the first Mexican DJ, to be on his radio show Kiss FM in London, having a great response from the radio listeners.
In 2013, John Digweed invited him again for his radio show called Transitions.
