Hello everyone, and welcome. You are in tune to our exclusive Progcast. This week, in a specially extended mix, we are thrilled to present, the return, of MOONFACE!

Deeply entrenched with more than 30 years in the music industry, Phil MOONFACE Thompson is transcendent with hope and positivity.

Phil's first exposure to the stars of our scene began when Sasha chose “U Get So Give” for his legendary Essential Mix in 2000, and then Bedrock's John Digweed signing “Futurized Fears/Overactive” as a double A side for his then brand new Bedrock label. Following these came a mini album called "BETWEEN WORLDS" released on all formats, it sold out around the world.

Many top DJs from Lee Burridge, Danny Howells to Danny Tenaglia, Hernan Cattaneo to Carl Cox supported the MOONFACE sound back in the golden age of dance music, leading Phil to became Bedrock's new Resident DJ, covering about 5 years warming up in Brighton and London, when he took over from Howells. 

Phil has toured the globe playing at many festivals and events flying the MOONFACE flag, partying at hot spots in Bali, Japan, Russia, Eastern Europe, Georgia, Malta & South America. He also held a long-term residency at the legendary Decadance club Thessaloniki in Greece.

Then came his more recent single "Across the Gulf of Space" released on Bedrock 18 - Signals compilation. There are releases and remixes for Krafted, Tulipa, Gibbon and Mirabilis, Wolf Trap & Mindwarp, including label compilation mixes for ASTIR, Gibbon and Tulipa, adding to his already glittering back catalog...

In 2020 Phil continued to host his FUTURIZED monthly show on Frisky Radio plus presenting his vinyl LIVE STREAM sets via YouTube. He also released his first collection of ambient, broken beats LP on Bandcamp, a very limited edition and a welcome deviation from his usual sounds.

In 2021 Phil had an early morning show on Radio 1's "Wind Down Zone" along with other Krafted DJ's, organised by Paul Sawyer. Then in April John Digweed aired his 5th Transitions show, featuring only MOONFACE Productions and Remixes, which gained over 14,000 listens. One track in this mix, called "U Have to Change", was supported by John Digweed in his DJ sets heavily that year, and went on to be remixed by Nick Muir, taking it in a new dance floor direction.

Towards the end of the year Phil started his monthly LIVE STREAMS called MOONFACE Plus DJ Mates. A new show featuring his DJ/Producer mates over many years, you can find them all on YouTube, Mixcloud and Twitch.

All of which is growing Phil’s online catalog, and with a stack of MOONFACE releases, not forgetting remixes and DJ compilations, locked in for the future!

Part 1

Relive the magic one more time with this live record of the enchanting Magic Room Party 2023. Anyone who has ever been here knows that the return to normal life is difficult, but enriched with all the love, hugs and happiness makes the return so much better.

Part 1 is about gathering love and energy to complete the journey to Cupid's planet. By mixing these, a fuel is created that makes it possible to complete the journey in a few hours. Once there, the pathfinder is released and after finding the secret ingredients we return to Earth full power in part 2.

We are blessed to have been able to perform here. And to make it even more special, we had our first live collaboration between D-Jen and Justin K to radiate the energy NASA needs to reach the moon right here on Earth.

Enjoy the magical music in this Part 1 but also be aware for the power of part 2. You have to fasten your seat belt, because that journey is certainly not smooth.

Journey Into 2024

Attached is the set I performed on the 17th of February, amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Achterhoek. Crafting my sets meticulously from start to finish is a personal tradition, and this time was no exception. I had the opportunity to test some of the tracks at a very special birthday celebration just the weekend before, held at a charming farmhouse just around the corner from where I reside.

The evening began with EJ setting a warm and inviting tone, instantly making everyone feel at home in a place they likely had never visited before. I was truly moved by how any initial hesitations melted away, aided by the poignant strains of the classic track "Adagio For Strings" performed with the original intention by Barber. Emotions were stirred for those open to receiving the signals, myself included.

Following the enchanting opening DJ set by Eddy, it was my turn to take the stage. From the very start, I was immersed in the moment, carefully weaving together a tapestry of tracks not in a haphazard sequence, but with each addition enhancing the journey as the set unfolded. I even managed to incorporate Dave's and Martin's vocals twice; with "Nothing Else Matters" remixed by Carlos Gatto, and the tender "The Things You Said" in the Nick Warren & Nicolas Rada Remix.

While some may lament prolonged breaks in Progressive House sets, there was no such complaint as timeless classics like "Morning Struggle" by Henrik Zuberstein, "Erectheum" (Original Mix) by Ruben Karapetyan, or "Last Standing" (Original Mix) by Guy J graced the dancefloor. The reception to these breaks was truly heartening. And to close the set with Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in the Kaz James & Nick Morgan Extended Remix evoked a bittersweet nostalgia, leaving a lasting imprint on the soul. It was indeed a night to cherish. I hope you find as much joy in this set as I did in creating it. Until next time!
