Foreign Fields is an electronic folk group that hails from the wintry plains of Wisconsin. New Years day of 2011 they met in their hometown, in an abandoned office building, to begin work on their first full length LP "Anywhere But Where I Am". Having no set plan or guide, the album grew naturally as they left their lives in the north for the rivers of Tennessee. Days after self-releasing on Bandcamp in January 2012, the album began to catch the attention of notable tastemaker blogs and worldwide critics alike.

California: land of tan and healthy people, where the weather's always perfect and the beaches are always warm. We all know someone who ventured westward looking for sunshine and waves, fulfilling their own manifest destiny. Growing up in the Midwest it seemed like a magical far-off land we only saw on television or in the movies-- glitz, glamour and palm trees in So-Cal, Danny Tanner and trolley cars in No-Cal.

As we head into another winter we look West, remembering our past summer and longing for California's eternal one. In our Next Jack Swing style, and featuring the vocals of Ghost Beach, this one goes out to all our friends who ventured to the best coast looking for an endless summer of surfing and tacos. Caaalifornia, we're comin' for ya!

STRFKR - I Don't Want To See (Mackintosh Braun Remix)

“Photos of Madrid,” the new single from Filligar, is a textural left-turn from their record Hexagon, released only weeks ago. The indie/alternative quartet eschew their familiar organic, lilting approach for pitter-pat high-hat and 1970′s Radio Shack Moog synths. A looping, hypnotic verse gives way to a chorus full of life and color, bursting into bloom with rich harmonies and a rapid-fire piano line. Vocalist Johnny Mathias offers a lyrical performance that is at once tongue-in-cheek and charmingly sentimental.

On the B-side is the official remix of the track by Kent Rockafeller. A gritty dance track, Rockafeller’s electronic approach pumps the amplitude while remaining true to the original’s A/B structure and Johnny’s playful vocal.
