Little Eris releases ‘Wreck n Rollin’ through Original Human Records on 1st May 2014.


Set against the backdrop of austerity in the UK, South Wales’ unique multimedia artist Little Eris hits back with Wreck n Rollin, an unstoppably rocking power pop anthem that’s heart beats with a social conscience.

‘Wreck n Rollin’ was produced with Charlie Hoskyns and mastered by Topfloor Studios in London. It’s the second official Little Eris(aka Bronwen Davies, former vocalist and bass player with Freaky Fortnight) release through Original Human records, it’s the follow up to her 2012 wondrous synth pop debut ‘So Many Nights’. Wreck n Rollin will be available on 1st May 2014 through all the main digital distributors. Pre-orders will be available through itunes from 3rd April .

Wreck n Rollin is accompanied by a 2 minute 20 second action packed mini B-movie complete with Men in Black, flying saucers and stars like TV actress / model Holly Rivers and Anthony Burns actor/model and Big Brother 13 Wildcard. The video was directed and edited by Alistair Parkhurst, head of Cardiff Independent Film Festival. Filmed on location in Cwmaman, near Aberdare and at the Wells Hotel in Cardiff in the studio of the late Kim Fielding of Tactile Bosch. The Boss scene was filmed in the home office of Welsh broadcaster Nia Medi.

Little Eris has been on the scene since 2008 she previously released a 13 track debut album “Molecules R Us” comprising a collection of demos available as a free download in the spirit of providing music for the masses and to circumvent the credit crunch, which was also released as limited edition CDs featuring personalised DIY artwork. She has shared the stage with Viv Albertine of the Slits, and toured the UK with The Great Wreck and Roll Cirkus alongside festival veterans Here & Now and Eat Static.

 As autumn’s long shadows creep knowingly towards winters icy blast Cardiff’s QUIET MARAUDER are set to provide the perfect sonic accompaniment to cold contemplative nights by releasing three consecutive monthly singles from September to November taken from magnus opus debut album, Men. After an EP based on the of concept re-imagining footballing legend Alan Shearer as a time travelling deity came QUIET MARAUDER’s debut LP, Men, released in January 2014.  Now officially entered into The Guinness Book Of World Records for consideration in the category of longest ever debut rock and pop LP Men weighs at nearly five hours of playing time, containing one hundred and eleven songs and sprawling across a mind enhancing four compact discs.  Wanting to draw a metaphorical line in the musical sand that is Men, pop intelligentsia QUIET MARAUDER release three singles from their meisterwerk, one a month across September, October and November 2014.  Pretty Girls Are (Pretty), Every Time We Think Of One Another (A Petal Falls From The Flowers On Our Graves) and SOS. 

 

Three songs that chart the inherent sexism of men; a love that lingers on after the grave; and the males species yearning to be a better person. If only such corduroy brandishing-ly serious topics sounded dreary on record?  Not so the songs penned by Simon M. Read and Jonathan Day.  You’ll forgive yourself for laughing out loud at the logic behind ‘girl spotting’ on public transport as witnessed on Pretty Girls Are (Pretty).  You’ll weep till your stetson crumples into its own ‘soggy bottom’ at the macabre alt country twang of Every Time We Think Of One Another (A Petal Falls From The Flowers On Our Graves) and you’ll chortle knowingly at the sublime lo-fi indie rumblings of SOS.  Three tunes that showcase a humour that has drawn comparisons with Viv Stanshall, The Mighty Boosh, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and Adam & Joe. 

 

Decisively daft, incorrigibly intelligent and darkly comical, QUIET MARAUDER are one of the most unique propositions to emerge from South Wales in a long time, a loose collective contributing kitchen utensil percussion, trumpet, tenor horn, melodica, multiple guitars, Thai saw, layered vocals and anything else that comes to hand.  As befits a band who thrive on organic consciousness and impromptu collaborations, guest appearances abound across these singles. Little Eris releases her new single ‘Karma To You’ on June 1st 2015 via Original Human Records.


‘Karma to You’ is the last in the trilogy of Little Eris singles produced by Charlie Hoskyns and mastered by Topfloor Studios in London. It’s the follow up to her debut single ‘So Many Nights’, a psychedelic love song,  and last year’s ‘Wreck n Rollin’  a political anti employment song that gained airplay from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music.


‘Karma To You’ is a resonant love song, based on the principle of Karma, “Everything you do will come back to you” and carries with it hope for a better World. Continuing her journey of her previous two singles, Little Eris is offering a peaceful philosophy during a tumultuous era where as she puts it “politics is just a sideshow’.  With catchy lyrics and stimulating psychedelic electronic sounds ‘Karma to You’ is a classic song that will stand the test of time.  


The original version of ‘Karma to You’ was released on The Stonehenge Free Festival 2012 compilation. The current version of the single is accompanied by a video shot at The Wells Hotel in Cardiff. The video features murals by street artist Lembo, special effects make up by Jodie Gibson and a cameo appearance by Welsh actress Jenni Davies.


The single recently received its first play to a packed dance floor at Cardiff’s Queer Disco. The music video will premiere at the Cardiff Temporary Autonomous Art exhibition on 2nd May where the audience will participate in the ‘Karma to You’ dance routine, a sequence of eight simple dance moves.

Little Eris - Karma To You

Instructions release their debut single 'Soft Rock Is My Radio' through recherché records as a digital single on the 29th of January.

Instructions are a brand new all star Cardiff pop act led by the incredible song writing talent that is Spencer Seglov, known for his work with the Spencer Mcgarry Season who released three albums in three different genres and were praised for their pastoral orchestral pop sound by the likes of the Guardian, 6 Music and David Quantick. Exploring their shared love of 70's rock, orchestral/chamber baroque pop and 80's electronic sounds.

The first taste of their sound: 'Soft Rock is my Radio' is a witty affectionate ode to a seemingly bygone era. Instructions bring fresh zest and life to it with vocals that are as redolent of the yacht rock of Hall and Oates and Steely Dan as they are Prince and a bounding liquid rhythm reminiscent of a getaway drive into the sunset from the 80's game Outrun with a blonde in the passenger seat- or in the boot! It comes with a complimentary video which examines the opulent life of singer who is rather full of himself and backed by the quality b-side 'Sarah Takes Time' which is about the singer's physiotherapist.

Instructions are a self styled five piece pop group from South Wales. Formed late 2013 as a new project by Cardiff based composer and song writer Spencer Segelov* (vocals, piano, guitars) and also featuring Sophie Reardon Smith(vocals), Huw Thomas(bass), Edd Reardon Smith(guitar) Spencer played drums on the single, but they have a revolving cast of drummers live.

Instructions spent 2014 playing various gigs supporting Racehorses, The Hooziers and headlining the rising band stage at the Greenman festival. This year they have supported Field Music played Rhonda Rocks and been named as a band to watch by the Western mail. Next year they have big plans: including full band shows for early in 2016 alongside Spencer's solo piano sets around the city, and a lead a-side single and full debut album slated for release in the first part of the year.

*Spencer Segelov has previously self-released three albums under the moniker Spencer McGarry Season and was commissioned to write the piece ‘Shorthand’ for a showing of Dracula in Cardiff Castle for the BFI's horror season. His songs have appeared in the films of Welsh director Marc Price and he has worked with the BBC’s concert orchestra.
