So with the 5AM Trio, we've been talking a lot about how to make more trap-style tunes to play in our sets. One day I was at the bouldering gym and a marimba melody popped into my head along with a break-beat style drum groove and thought "ooh that's hot", so I ran home and sketched-up the initial idea for "Heat". After jamming on it a bit with the Trio, as it often does, it turned from a simple, singular idea into a dynamic journey through trap, house, and breaks that will be really fun to explore in future live sets.

The Whack Lack series is about artists creating their own battlewax record; with tunes designed to work in their own right, as well as giving scratch DJs and vocalists some new material to work with. The battlewax concept is to keep it simple yet effective, focusing on the right hook with the right beat and nothing more.
