just-us records is a collaborative dig, online shop, and sometimes record label by Bill Spencer, who lives in detroit and Izaak, who lives in San Francisco. the two of them dj frequently in their respective cities and occasionally elsewhere. their mutual obsession with and love of all kids of sound has catapulted them, together, through the vastness of recorded music and the possibilities of sharing it with others. this particular mix is put together from a multi-year effort to explore the worlds of independently-produced R&B, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, etc. etc. from the CD/PC era of the early 00’s. We hope you enjoy just as much as we did!

TISSUE Magazine Mixtape by MATT MORODER called Café Flesh

Homeboy Matt Moroder from Hamburg (Germany) is a great influence to music lovers digging for those records nobody ever even heard of. This makes him a wanted contributor to platforms like Testpressing or Dream Chimney.

He is also running a cosy label called Little Leaf releasing nicely edits of musical rarities on an irregular basis. Nobody else but Team TISSUE helps him with the layouts to his record sleeves.

The mix he has done for us is a smooth two hour ride through the odd side of Tropical, Afro, Wave, Dark Disco and House. No tracklist this time but we are bothering him already for IDs. So if you would like to know a track drop us a line.

Mixtape 21 by MATT MORODER

Revered Hamburg enigma and VHS specialist Braun Jaschkewitz racks up a full clip of coldwave bullets for local bastion V I S, counting stacks of killer, unidentifiable private pressings, flohmarkt finds and legendary gems.

The first of two ‘Neid Dabai Zu Sein’ (or ‘To Give Envy’, if we’re not mistaken) tapes brims over with an early ‘80s quintessence, all screwed drum machines, tart synths and an enchanting mix of German and english-sung vocals that exemplifies the era’s diversity within a theme. 

Like a sorta parallel to Annie Hogan’s goth salvos, Jaschkewitz’s selections run a finely-shaded gamut of vibes from wiry lo-fi to poppy NDW and sultrier swag. It’s frankly facemelting parade, mostly taken from 7”s and recorded in one-take, although you suspect he spent serious time pulling out that track-list, which holds to an absolutely head frying mesh of steady, sleazy pacing, but prangs off at right angles when you least expect it.
