Making his debut on Purified Records, Aplexo unveils his striking two-track ‘Faces’ EP. On the flip, ‘Waves’ ventures into deeper territory, delivering a grittier, more club-focused sound with atmospheric textures and a driving groove. A confident first statement, the ‘Faces’ EP introduces Aplexo as a compelling new voice on the label, showcasing his ability to balance intricate production with melodic depth.

The ‘Faces’ EP artwork is an aerial photograph of the Knik Glacial River in Alaska, taken by Jan Erik Waider. A fine art photographer based in Hamburg, Germany, Jan is known for capturing abstract landscapes of the northern latitudes. With a focus on water, ice, and intricate natural patterns, his work reveals the beauty hidden in the subtle details of the world around us.

Alaska’s waters are among the most productive in the world, sustaining rich marine life and vital fisheries. “That Song Remembers” is a melodic deep techno journey inspired by the hypnotic musicality of Underworld. Driven by pulsating basslines, evolving synth textures, and a steady, immersive groove, the track balances intensity with intimacy, a sound that feels vast yet deeply personal. The arrangement builds layer by layer, inviting you to lose yourself in repetition that slowly transforms into revelation.

Lyrically, the song explores the way music carries memory more faithfully than we do. A single chord, a familiar bar, a fleeting melody, each one opens doors to forgotten seasons, kitchens lit at night, laughter in passing, names traced on glass. The song becomes a vessel for what was left unsaid, holding fragments of a relationship and replaying them with every note.
