Zaumne's new album titled Élévation is a multifaceted yet subtle work, an abstract collage that is equally entrancing and immersive. Quoting passages from Baudelaire’s “Flowers of Evil”, the Polish musician promises to elevate the soul and consciousness “Beyond the sun / Beyond the ether”. Yet simultaneously, the artist wants us to stay where we are and focus on the immediate surroundings in search of our personal attachment to the world.

Initially recorded for the WET (Weird Erotic Tension) online community the four pieces are an exploration of erotic aspects of the environment and uncanny intimacy with other beings and objects that dwell in our nearest proximity. Just like on previous releases for labels like Czaszka Rec. or Perfect Aesthetics, on Élévation Zaumne maintains his interest in emotional aspects of sound and internet culture – he builds his compositions from fragments of ASMR-whispered poetry, samples of natural phenomena and field recordings from his family home and its environ.

What starts as an escapist exercise driven by uneasiness and ennui becomes an individual healing process, in which the subject rediscovers the strangely intimate relationship with the world and opens up to almost magical methods of communicating with other beings. ASMR samples and sounds of the artist touching, playing with and exciting different objects are an experiment in establishing contact with the non-human realm and a method of attuning the body and the mind to the reality in which everything is interconnected.

Zaumne tests Einstein’s “spooky action at a distance” through radical, sensual intimacy with what’s near, finding a glimpse of the absolute in his own room, again quoting Baudelaire: “To a child who is fond of maps and engravings / The universe is the size of his immense hunger”. Composed during a whirlwind period of touring and sound engineering in 2019, 𝑂𝑛𝑙𝑦 functions as both a tranquil refuge and as a heartfelt appreciation for the source instruments' timbres. Berlin-based Bridget Ferrill crystallizes her professional recording experience and artist residencies into a singular focus on Buchla modular, harp, zither, and viola da gamba. Rather than an exercise in technical mastery, Ferrill's careful arrangements invite us to linger with each instrument; in her words, fulfilling the longing to "listen a little longer, a little slower". Every contour of the instruments is lovingly traced, a warm invite for us to join her in the exuberance of exploring their inner life.

Bridget Ferrill (USA/DE) is a producer and composer of electronic music whose work plays between pattern and noise, exploring augmented instruments, handmade electronics, and experimental computer music. She has participated in residencies at EMS in Stockholm, LungA in Iceland, and the Dirt Palace in Providence, Rhode Island. Recent projects include composing for Staatstheater Cottbus, engineering and performing electronics for Bendik Giske’s live show, designing the Anglerfish drone synthesizer for Common Ground, and creating multimedia installations with composer Áslaug Magnúsdóttir.

Ferrill is also a live and studio engineer with experience working in studios and venues such as Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavik, Machines with Magnets in Providence RI, and at Real Surreal, her own mixing and mastering studio in Berlin.

Perila is the project of artist, DJ, and radio.syg.ma co-founder Sasha Zakharenko. Over the last few years she's been exploring themes of intimacy and the more elusive layers of reality through mixes and recently her own music; turning to sound as a means of getting in touch with and transmitting life shifts. I'm honored to share her evocative debut EP for Motion Ward, 'Dust 22'. The cassette features a 21 minute live take alongside three songs that occupy a similar state of feeling.

Tape loops are a closed path, a cyclic river, a ring around a far planet. They’re similar to our memory, continuously reenacting an artefact that belongs to a precise point in time, brought back in a process of recall where that artifact slightly and slowly becomes imprecise and shifted. An unrested repetition carved into an old pavement, in a city where every generation leaves a new mark, a new incision and maintains an endless process of birth and deterioration. Sonus Ruinae’s synthesizers sounds are gently laid on that closed path, put in a locked repetition and engaged into that eternal dance.
While growing up with computer music influences, ranging from glitch to the new century Roman electronic scene, Marta De Pascalis developed her musician skills under the spell of the Italian sound labs sphere, from Gruppo di Improvvisazione to Battiato and other masters that influenced the global movement of sound designers. Her earliest Live performances already showed a special character of improvisation and structure, reduced slowly to become essence, made of synthesis and magnetic tape. Her album Sonus Ruinae is a canvas of harmonics and a sublime place where things are whole, where your first listen is engraved just like that ancient city’s pavement, and Marta endlessly writes beauty on top of it, layer after layer.

An extraordinary twilight world opens while listening to Organizatisya. Adventurous yet humble, they push the limits towards the unknown. One thing’s for sure, it’s fresher than the juiciest peach on a perfect summer day. 
Organizatsiya hail from Lyon, France. Leo and Zoe clearly have strong roots in folk and acoustic music. These ‘old worlds’ blend in surprisingly well with more contemporary digital, futuristic sounds. Soothing analog recordings meet hyperdigital compositions reminiscent of IDM creations and peppered with spoken words that dance around in unexpected ways.
Seductive, intelligent and deeply hypnotic, this esoteric material delivers a dreamlike experience.
Like finishing a game and celebrating victory with cheap champagne in a neon light lit bubble bath with the end tune of The Legend of Zelda in the air.
