This episode I had on (if you ask me) one of the best of the best newcoming artists of 2022 at the container: The Spy. This year his album Time To Strike landed on Elena Colombi's infamous Osàre! Editions imprint and it's really something special. One of my absolute favs of this year consisting of crunchy, wavey electro rhythms accompanied by synths that touch the soul. Apart from that, his releases span across labels like Brokntoys, Discos Atónicos and Everyone On Acid, which are all very much worth giving a good listen.

More than honoured to have had my big red Cruel Machine companion over on the show for a b2b session.

Ruta Genyte has been a figurehead of the underground scene for years. This killer selector has serious class, takes bold risks, and is bound to ruffle some feathers with her sets. As a part of  Pinkman Records crew, an affiliate of WORM, Roodkapje and now, POING, Genyten's mark on Rotterdam is undeniable. From Lithuania by way of warehouse raves in London, her style combines EBM, electro, industrial and avant-garde in a manner that is futuristic and surprising as much as it can be counted on as being an instant classic. FAQ (@foireauxquestions) started deejaying in the 2000s coming from hardcore, punk and indie music. After playing house – mostly chicago and acid – for some years he moved into electro, ebm and wavey machine music during his residency at IfZ and throwing parties with Young Shields.
Now he is Part of Disposable Time, where he organizes parties and hosts a Radio Show on Callshop Radio and a podcast series all together with Alice in Flames.

Today we listen a selection by All Trades based in Liverpool, born in Blackburn, North-West England. He launched a label called Interlock with Maxquerade and Terreux. His style of DJing takes from the hardcore continuum, and filters it through an experimental lens. With this set he has selected experimental tracks, mixing in polytempo for some sections, between 90/180bpm and 180/120bpm.

There is a forthcoming track with is a collaboration with All Trades and Prieste5s, under the name From The Depths, this project will be revealed in June, with EP out 20th June on Interlock.

Which artists has influenced you the most? 

- Clouds, Special Request, Ryoji Ikeda, Andrea Parker

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I have been involved in a project called From the Depths for the past year, we did a debut live hardware set last year in Manchester on Drexciya Day at Eastern Bloc. We have just sent off the tracks for our first EP for mastering, which will be out in June, with more live sets later this year. 
The EP will be out on my label, Interlock, interlockliverpool.bandcamp.com  We plan on hitting the 2nd half of 2023 hard with the label, we have some really exciting releases lined up.

What inspires you now to create music? 

- I have actually spent the last few months not creating any new music – just finishing tracks off, I have so many unreleased tracks that I need to get out into the world! I have been quite disciplined when moving into a new apartment to not unpack my hardware yet as it will just distract me – jamming for hours instead of finishing stuff haha.
When I do make music, I think experimentation for extended periods of time, when you feel like the session is going nowhere, to just push on a bit more, and one minor change can solidify an idea or give birth to a whole new one. I often find myself trying to make an average track better – grafting for hours on it, then something will catch my ear in the track – I’ll loop that, suddenly the inspiration will strike and I will have formed that small earworm into a new finished track in record time, and totally different to the vibe I was going for in the first place. It may be a convoluted way of going about it haha but it has some surprising results.
