Rene Wise has only been in the game a short time though his network and output hint differently. A drummer from the age of seven, his intuitive ear naturally turned digital and has been catching the attention of industry heads in recent years. 3024: Please describe the mix in a single sentence ?

Yushh: A good level of nuts and emotions 

3024: What DJ inspires you at the moment / has inspired you throughout the years and why?

Yushh : Tom Boogizm has played some of my favourite sets over the past couple of years. Unexpected twists and turns but always huge vibes. I’m lucky in Bristol to be around people like Bruce and Batu who’ve always been inspiring to me as DJs - Love the way they carve out their sets in a unique and unpredictable way. I-sha is also a huge inspiration - her sets don’t even sound like dj sets more like a live - so considered and patient and incredible selections. 


3024: What are you working on / what have you got forthcoming?

Yushh : I’ve just finished up a few remixes which should be dropping pretty soon and hoping to finish up another EP and maybe even a mini album by the end of the year. Otherwise I'm looking forward to diving headfirst into festival season then heading to Asia and Auz later in the year for the first time which is crazy exciting.

3024 TAPES 006 : Yushh

Mix 006. This one is really special to me as it represents a sound I’ve been searching for as a DJ/producer/listener for a while. Too often in techno these days, the term “dark” gets mixed up with the word “hard.” In my eyes, they mean something very different. This mix represents my vision for the dark, driving techno I love to play and listen to. “Dark” techno, for me, accesses the full range of human emotion. Austerity and mechanized coldness mixed with fleeting moments of yearning and beauty. Not just grooves, but tracks with great melodies that suggest more beneath the surface. Put another way—dark, driving techno done right is layered and subtle, something that rewards you the more you listen.

90s Techno Redux - Mix 006

Born in Algeria, and raised between France and the Netherlands, with a later stint in London, Mary Lake has lived a life through the lens of different cultures, each adding a little more to her experience in the realm of electronic music. It wasn’t always her medium, but in DJing she’s found her most authentic voice, with her start at more intimate house parties, then on to the best and brightest of Dutch clubs and festivals. For her, creative discovery and expanding the limits of craft is key, covering both the range of utilitarian techno and more atypical sounds, the likes of which she was apt to share via her experimental pandemic-era radio show Worshipping Discordia. Alongside that, and a slew of catchy releases, she’s now a Spielraum resident and frequently billed on stages from Dekmantel to De School to Tresor, Bassiani and beyond. Her percussive techno spreads the kind of wildly infectious crowd energy that drew a younger her towards it many moons ago, now she's on the inside looking out. Bassiani Podcast 209 is an hour of vanguard beats delivered fresh by this burgeoning selector, driving and serpentine basslines to rattle your musical senses.

Sandrien is known for her versatile take on techno and igniting dancefloors all around the world from Japan, to Georgia to Berlin and of course Amsterdam, where she was a former resident of the legendary Amsterdam venues De School and its predecessor Trouw. In 2022 Sandrien set the dance floor of Monument Festival ablaze and here now for MNMT 447 she lays down another outstanding mix.

“Thanks for the invite to do a mix for you, I have very fond memories of playing at the festival in 2022! It was a beautiful experience playing in the mountains with sweet, caring staff and visitors! Modern hypnotics from a new techno star.

It's a tale as old as time: techno DJ moves to Berlin to chase a dream. Philippa Pacho is part of the latest wave of talent to tread that familiar path. But don't let that fool you. She's one of the classiest artists around—no TikTok gimmicks here.

Pacho's formative years were spent in her native Stockholm, navigating a vibrant DIY party scene that included warehouse raves and illegal parties. She eventually took up a long-standing residency at beloved local club Under Bron and the experience, as she details in this week's Q&A, sharpened her technical skills, teaching her to handle every type of set—whether opening with patience, supporting a headliner or closing with finesse. She also played with countless touring DJs, from Answer Code Request to Antony Parasole, which ultimately inspired her move to Berlin.

That relocation has firmly paid off. It's a testament to Pacho's talent that you'll find her playing pretty much every big club and festival across Europe, from Berghain and Dekmantel to FOLD and Monument (we were exhausted just looking at her upcoming listings on RA). Other recent highlights include closing out Bassiani's tenth birthday, and back-to-backs with Fadi Mohem and Sandrien. 

Pacho's RA Podcast showcases her preference for classy, hypnotic techno, striking a balance between muscle and subtle groove. Her aptitude for what makes dance floors tick is also evident on her two labels—Phorum Records and positivesource (co-run with Blue Hour)—both of which mirror her DJ style, blending intensity with delicate textures. positivesource has released several standout records, including this year's "Psycho" by BLANKA and Phil Berg's "Psyckik" (which you'll hear on this mix). 

Spanning 70 minutes, RA.980 is a window into Pacho's thoroughly modern sound (the oldest track is from 2018). And yet it retains a refined, sweeping quality. Give it a spin and you'll soon twig why she's in demand on dance floors worldwide.

Proud champions of community and inclusivity, Lakuti and Tama Sumo are long-time Dekmantel favourites and true underground bastions. Deep diggers and lifelong collectors, the iconic Panorama Bar dup built a reputation for sets where pretty much anything goes, as long as it has soul.
