TLF TUESDAY COMP

The second of my mix series exploring the many sub-genres of dance music.

This week we're talking about the FUNK as bass guitar riffs, trumpet melodies, bouncy drum beats and groovy organ keys combine to create a distinct and very cool sound. Funky house grew from the US funk scene in the 1980s (you'd never have guessed, I know) in places such as Ohio, California and New Orleans, while elements of French house (see: Daft Punk) helped to keep funk at the forefront of the scene. Expect some classic house tracks from the likes of Daft Punk, Robert Hood and Kenny Dope as well as the breakthrough producers of today including Ewan McVicar, Mochakk and Oden & Fatzo and from some well-established artists in the game such as Armand Van Helden, Basement Jaxx and Disclosure. Enjoy this journey into the world of funky house music!
