Pour Les enfants du large, je cherchais une musique qui ne souligne pas l’émotion mais qui la traverse. Rémi Boubal a su trouver cet équilibre en composant une partition empreinte à la fois d’une grande délicatesse et d’expressivité, capable de soutenir le récit sans jamais l’alourdir. Il a su traduire l’ambivalence de l’aventure en mer — à la fois exaltante et mélancolique, lumineuse et insondable — sans appuyer, sans illustrer. Sa musique porte la part tragique du film avec une grande finesse, en laissant toujours de l’espace au silence, au doute, à l’errance. Elle évoque le souvenir sans le figer, la perte sans pathos. Le thème final ne conclut rien, mais il apaise. Il laisse partir. Cette bande originale est pour moi une trace sensible, souterraine, de cette traversée.
