DJ Guasá es artista que cultiva los sonidos tradicionales del mundo con un especial enfoque en la rama Afro Colombiana. Además de un gran coleccionista de vinilos e instrumentos, Guasá es un querido amigo y artista de Cosmovision Records desde el día que comenzamos. Es por eso que comenzamos con él esta nueva serie de música tradicional en formato vinilo.

¨Esta sesión junta ritmos del campo colombiano, partiendo de la poesía andina del "Indio Romulo" y la música llanera, llegando a las costas Caribe y Pacífico. Hay una cumbia grabada en México por Aniceto Molina y un homenaje póstumo más reciente a Andrés Landero, "rey de la cumbia". También se disuelven las fronteras rítmicas en una cumbia de chirimía del Chocó. Está presente la resistencia de los ritmos tradicionales frente a la modernidad, bien sea en manera que se tocan o en la forma en que han sido grabados; no es una selección cronológica, porque las grabaciones más recientes muestran que son tradiciones más vivas que nunca en diálogo abierto con esa modernidad¨

¨DJ Guasá is an artist who cultivates the traditional sounds of the world with a special focus on Afro-Colombian sound, as well as a great collector of vinyl and instruments, Guasá is a dear friend and artist of Cosmovision Records from the day we started. That is why we started this new series with this great set of traditional music vinyls.
This mixtape brings together rhythms of the Colombian countryside, passing through the Andes and the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, a mixture of rural poetry by Indio Romulo and the llanera music that Colombia shares with Venezuela. There is a cumbia played in Mexico by Aniceto Molina and a more recent posthumous tribute to Andrés Landero, "king of cumbia". I wanted to try to connect this genre with other music of rural oral tradition and listen to how each landscape permeates them. A certain dissolution of rhythmic borders occurs in a chirimía playing cumbia, a kind of resistance of traditional rhythms against modernity, either in the formats of their interpretation or in the way they have been recorded.
This is not a chronological selection, because the most recent recordings show that the traditions are more alive than ever and maintain an open dialogue with that modernity.¨

Sanctuary Mix #19: Barbarella

El artista costarricense inició su carrera con experimentaciones en géneros como el dub y con shows en algunos de los clubs más importantes de la electrónica de la capital de San José. Siendo un artista con importantes trabajos en el género de la cumbia digital André Campos aka Nochi ha trabajado géneros como el calypso, sin embargo, sus investigaciones lo han llevado por diversos paisajes sonoros de las raíces indígenas y populares de su país hasta llegar al amplio repertorio del sonido global contemporáneo.

Sobre el evento:

El pasado 12 de septiembre vivimos la primer experiencia del Encuentro Cybercumbiero organizado en conjunto por Tacacocodin y Ritmos Mulatos. La reunión congregó artistas de todo el continente en un evento que se extendió desde las 7 p.m hasta horas de la madrugada. Música y espacios virtuales en 3D fueron parte de esta primer experiencia por articular el arte del Livecoding y la Cumbia.​

El escenario virtual se vistió de los DJ sets de Nochi, Pinchado, Tribillin Sound. Las selecciones musicales de CreateDiggers como DannyBoy, Jota Ortiz, Musas Sonideras, Asocultura y los colectivos de Livecoding Rafrobeat, Ghales, Sumergentes, Torotumbo, Sonide.Ar y  Celeste. Por esta razón y a modo de reseña queremos dejarles un recuento sonoro de las diferentes intervenciones

In Mazunte, January 8, 2018. During a getaway on the Mexican Pacific coast, El Gato Negro, the eternal adventurer, meets a new fortune friend, Don Mescal, another traveler of modern times and co-founder of Montreal label Cosmovision records. During a Mayan ceremony, Don Mescal is struck by a cosmic illumination: he hears, embraces and feels the feline entities coming from the sky… At dawn, he understands that the album remix of the exotic black cat had to come to life.
Back in Quebec and to reality, Mescal quickly opens his doors to bring together the greatest gurus of the world-tropical scene. To orchestrate his vision, he welcomes artists from Argentina, Canada, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Guatemala, under the benevolent eye of Guts.

Exploring the boundaries between Afro-Latin music and Jazz, COLECTIVA are a unique voice on the UK scene, representing the meeting of two musical worlds they believe belong together. 
 
Their first single, Under The came to life when jazz pianist Maria Grapsa brought an early arrangement of the tune to the collective. Working together over a series of collaborative sessions typical of their creative process, they crafted the song you hear today.
 
Founded as a creative experiment by trombonist Viva Msimang, COLECTIVA makes space for female and non-binary identifying musicians to come together and collaborate in a new dynamic, an alternative to traditional hierarchical structures, free from the Male Gaze.
